That a male clownfish would not change into a female if there was no female present?
Also what is the longest that I could expext a male clarks clownfish to turn into a female if there was a juvenile subordinate present.
I bought my pair from a split wild caught group about 8 months ago the larger fish i believe was a male and the smaller a juvenile.
over the 8 months the small juenile has almost reached the size of the larger one but the larger has not changed in size it is definatly dominant and aggressive towards the juvenile but they dont act like a true pair ie the smaller one is tolerated but not accepted and since I added a nem a few days ago there has been no improvement with the less domnant fish not being allowed into the nem.
I was wondering if the larger could still be a male that has not changed it still rock bites and shimmies occasionally but not as much as the smaller one and still has a solid yellow tail (i know that this is not that relevant to all clarks i.e females have white tails)
Any thoughts appriciated
