Is there a way to dim a reefBrite with Apex?

Yes you can. I can't click on Mike's link, but RB makes a dimming module you can connect to the Apex. I dim my RB led's to simulate dusk and dawn before and after my mh come on. It's pretty cool....the best of both worlds.

They make a double unit dimmer now too, I believe.

Hey Wayne, if you can find the time, can you post your programming for that?

Thanks Mike. I have the manual one :-);

That automatic dimmer is not cheap.

The bad thing about the dimmer is that you still need the power supply. When I bought the dimmer, I was assuming that it would be able to power the RB strip but it's just a dimmer.

The reefBrite comes with its power supply right? anyway, those power supplies are cheap like less than $10 anyway :-)

Any chance you could get me the link for a $10 power supply for the RB. last one I bought, i paid about $50.

hey guys.. I just 2 Reefbrite XHO for my ATI..

I plan to get the dimmer controller to connect to APEX.

so, I will need to buy a power supply too for the controller? or only the manual dimmer require Powersupply?

What? no remote access?
:-)

easier done on a laptop.

So a little about my setup. I have 3 of the Reefbrite Hybrid fixtures. I think I was one of the first people to buy the RB Hybrids. In fact, Tullio didn't even have an Apex set up yet to test it. I had to work closely with him to get everything running correctly, but now it does :)

Each Hybrid fixture runs a 400w MH SE bulb and has 2 separate RB LED strips on both ends. They handle up to 4 strips, but I'm only using 2 blues to simulate dawn and dusk and to get the crazy colors when I feel like seeing them.

Anyway, I have the two LED strips connected together using the RB 'Y' dongle, which then plugs directly into one of my 3 VDM modules.

As for the configuration, I created a profile called:

"LED_DAWN"
Control Type: Ramp
Ramp Time (minutes): 120
Start Intensity: 0
End Intensity: 100

I also created another profile called "LED_DUSK"
Control Type: Ramp
Ramp Time (minutes): 60
Start Intensity:100
End Intensity: 0

Then for each 3 of my VarSpd, I named them "Right_LED", "Center_LED", and "Left_LED"

Advanced setting with the following configuration:

Set OFF
If Time 10:00 to 12:00 Then LED_Dawn
If Time 20:00 to 21:00 Then LED_Dusk

I also have the dimmable RB MH ballast, but found out you can only dim them down to like 60% just because of the nature of MH lighting so I didn't feel a need to have them dimmed at all even though I have everything to do so. I just have the MH lights come on a minute before and after the LED's do.

I hope that helps! GL!

Thanks Wayne.

LOL better yet, I'll copy that and let Solitude remote access and fix it for me if it doesn't work.

Oh, in that case, I made one mistake. Make sure the LED_Dawn and LED_Dusk letters match in your program. I'm sure you know APEX is case sensitive.
