Is this how clams are supposed to reproduce?

The little guy has "walked" across the tank, a distance of about 6 inches, in the past month. For a while it was sitting next to the large maxima. I noticed earlier this week that he was climbing up the side of the big guy, and now he has found a spot and is apparently very happy there.

Yes, both are maximas. The smaller is a gold colored one and the large one is a nice aqua blue/purple. I know it is not how they reproduce, but I thought it was interesting.
