is this tank overstocked?

The forceps were a nice touch. I'm guessing the person responsible for that has a flare for the dramatic.

Overstocked, and incredibly boring. Now an EcoSphere is is way cooler of a concept in my opinion. I bought my wife one for her desk at work over five years ago and she still has a shrimp living it, completely self contained.

For years I've wanted to try this with a marine tank. I picture a drinking glass-sized vessel with a short SPS frag, or a shot glass with a single zoanthid.

If you could figure out a way to deliver some aeration without a bulky and ugly airline, and kept it in a warm spot, and did water changes every day or two...

OK, so I started a 10g nano a couple of weeks ago for my daughter and I thought that was small!
This video is crazy. Maybe we should rethink our systems. How about 1 frag per shot glass. lol. Then we could line them up on the window sill for everyone to admire. Just like college with beer cans. Haha

Where's the CUC? :spin2:
How about a very small cabinet underneath it with a tiny air pump. Run the tiny airline up the corner of the tank and drop the stone in behind a plant.

Blacklagoon I am intrigued by the ecosphere you bought your wife. How does that work? It would make a great gift for my husband at work if he was allowed to have such a thing in the facility.

I have one this size, with a Naso Tang in it.

He seems to be stressed.

Any ideas what other fish I can put in there with him that would be compatible?

The longest an ecosphere customer has owned one with the same shrimp has been 21 years. The record was broken last week. I have been emailing back and forth with the company. Pretty amazing....

I use to think those ecospheres were pretty amazing, then one day I accidentally came across this article:

I haven't done any more research on it, so I'm not sure if it's legit or not...but I figured I'd share regardless. :)

That's an interesting perspective, but it strikes me as reactionary and contradictory.

The author of that article basically says ecospheres are bad because the water is dirty and there's no food (because the ecosphere concept assumes they'll eat algae). Then, he/she goes on to describe their own "preferred" setup for keeping the shrimp, which involves getting them to eat algae and never filtering or changing the water.
