Ed, he is happy with 4 tunze 6101. I think you two catching the tunze fever lol :). I heard Fliger doing an upgrade as well 2x6201. Now i feel like a bad influence

Edward, frozen Cyclops ( not cyclopeze) is a great food for Anthias. Most will take it immediately but the few who don't will take it sooner or later and then there's no stopping them.

I bought the thicker sand so this would be easy and not cause sandstorms.

What sand did you go with? Got a link?

My tank is doing great :) . I'm in the middle of trying to figure out what salt I want to switch to. Naka has us all thinking of the HW and wondering if that is his secret weapon for such a impressive reef :) .

I love the Tunze stuff and yes as Steve said he has been very instrumental in me going back to Tunze. For Steves' sake I hope he and my wife never meet.....she's not as happy about the Tunzes as I am :D . $$$$

Chad

wow I love it Bare bottom but the SSB look pretty good. How often do you clean your sand beb Edward? I just try the SSB and I feel like too much detritus accumulate already.

Jarhead, bad influence or good influence? :) I think its good for me. :) It's good to hear my wife tell me that its important for me to buy Tunze's. The tank has definitely come more alive now with 3 tunze's. All corals move now while in the past, everything was calm and sometimes never moved. I couldnt be happier.
I saw David posting his 6101's for sale. Glad to see he is advancing to the 6201's.

zooloo, thank you.

Lesmartin, i will see if I can find some today at an LFS. Thanks for the tip.

robster, I chose Caribsea Seafloor dry 1-2mm in size. I thought it would look very chunky, but it doesnt look bad at all. Im very happy and still looks natural. It's the 3 image from the left: http://www.caribsea.com/pages/products/dry_aragonite.html

GSM, thanks. I dotn think Robs is available locally, but i can ask.

Chad, naka has impressed me everytime I stop by. His corals grow as quick as the HGH tanks! :) He feeds his corals a lot, strong flow, 10k's, and good husbandry.

ycn, I havent cleaned it yet.. But I am assuming I will clean it every 2-3 wks. It all depends on how dirty it gets. :) Do any of you recommend any good sand cleaner tools?

Rods is available online many places Marine depot, premium aquatics, Salty Critter, give it a try you will not be disappointed, I promise.

I have Salty Critter local to me What i did is ask the owner to start carrying it, he ordered a few packs and it sold out immediately and now he carries it. :)

I just use a long siphon and hold it at an angle so that very little sand is wasted. Then, after siphoning, for the final touch, I use a glass scraper to clean the algae off of the glass where it interfaces with the substrate. I learned this from John (thedude) and it really sets off the bottom of the tank nicely.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and compliments!!!

I had to turn down one of my tunze 6201's a bit because it was too much flow and the sand would create craters. Waiting for the bacteria to build up to give it some cohesion.

Oh and Marc.. i will be getting my stand soon. Im so excited!

I know what you mean about 6201's and craters! :D How far down did you turn it? Where have you placed your 6201's and 6101? You've got me thinking adding a 6101!

When you say you're getting a new stand, is it the skin for your steel stand? Or will you be swapping that out? Whichever the case, can't wait to see it, as I'm sure it will be nice and clean looking to match the rest of your setup!

Terry, I have one of the 6201's almost all the way down. The other one is ok since it shoots from the top front right side to the SPS rock (across the tank). I havent decided on permanent placing yet since I am getting in a 7095 controller. Then I will know how these pumps will shoot out and at what time to see whats the best placement. Right now, the flow sometimes crashes with each other. Im sure with the controller it wont at all times.

As for the stand it is only the skin. The steel stand is perfect and doesnt need to be redone. It will be a simple clean look. I had it designed out in Google Sketchup a while back. Nothing has changed on its design. ADG is good at this stuff so I am not worried.

Ed, if you point your tunze 6201 upward, you don't have to worry about the sand being blow around. I can show you how it done. Just drop me a PM with your number..... :)
