I took a leave from reefing and the club since moving to my new house and is currently still tankless but it's nice to see the club is still active and looks like it's doing well. Just want to say I missed you guys and hope to drop in on one of the future meeting to say hi.

Jason LOL I do have part of a reef tank inside the boxes in my garage does that count?

Bob I am thinking about becoming the president of the koi club too but I can't find the
koi club lol atleast here I know where to find you guys

Good to hear from you Tom. The club benefits from the wisdom of reefing veterans.

Let me know if you find that koi club. I've been keeping koi since '89.

It's been to long Tom. At least if your on here it means the reef bug, not the bad ones, are biting again.

Ken, I didn't know you had koi? Do you know a good local source for koi? I found some at fish pro and is looking for some butterfly. I know a guy who knows the owner of a koi farm in Sacramento so I am going to check it out soon and see if I can pick up some.

Lokii, yeah I think eventually I will have a tank again. I am thinking about keeping mostly clams.

Tom I had a great source for koi years ago. Met her in the early 90s. She imported and retailed until she moved away. The koi I have now were 2-3" when I got them from her back around 2001.

3 houses ago I built a 2000 gallon in ground concrete and cinder block pond. 2 houses ago I built a 1000g above ground liner pond out of redwood 4x4 and 2x12 that I could disassemble and move. That survived for years at my last house. Now my 3 remaining koi live in a 200g macro bin (like you see transported on produce flatbed trucks) that used to be their hospital tank.

My fav is my nidan kohaku, though her hi is orange really and her shiro not the brilliant white of the pristine snow on Mt. Fuji. Oh well. She makes me smile.

Tom,

Glad to see you on here. I hope to see you at one of the meetings. The tank is doing great, but is rather empty of corals compared to when you had it... :) I think that will change over a long long time...

I just installed a calcium reactor last night so I am off of 2 part. Now the tank should be self sufficient for very long periods.

Thanks again for giving me such a stellar deal. I couldn't have done this great thing without you.

Owen did you have dosers? If so, there's a member looking for two. Thanks

Hey Tom,
A few years back I heard that by the intersection between Hwy 116 and Stony Point there's a nursery and that guy suppose to have koi, don't know what kind though, also heard a rumor that on the outskirts of Santa Rosa somewhere near Occidental and Guerneville Rd there's supposed to be a breeder, hope that helps.

There is a pond store on Stony Point just south of 116. They have Koi. I have no Koi knowledge so have no way to judge the quality. They do have lots of cool pond plants, too.

Woodquanut I was just at that place by 116 and stony they do have a lot of cool looking plants, very nice bonsai material so I am going to hang out there quite a bit. Fish wise not bad. I went to fish pro and got another butterfly koi so now I am up to 9

Ken I don't know them by name just yet, give me two years lol my current pond is only 1000gal so I am going to start with small ones and see.

Owen, once your kid turn about 4 you will have more time to add corals, but until then ... good luck ... lol

Inokea, I will check occidental and see.
