It's just another 40 Breeder thread

So I started building my 40 breeder SPS and zoa tank. I gathered all I will need for the tank. And just need a few odd and ends before I can bring it to life.

I built my stand over the weekend. It turned out better than I hoped.

And I also picked up some frags from a local hobbyisty on craigslist. Nice stuff for nice prices

An update. I got the 40 breeder on the stand and in place.

A local shop here drilled my tank for me. Ended up perfect. Got the drain overflows but waiting on the return parts so I can finish plumbing it this weekend. Also gonna make the other side overflow.

The first tank cracked cause of the stand wasnt straight on the back so I fixed the stand with some bondo and lots of sanding.

So just waiting on a few more parts and it will be up and running

Stand looks nice, but you need to make sure the tank is on a very flat and level surface.. Bad things can happen if not. JMTC & GL!

Yes, good start! How are you going to mount the overflow box(es) up high? Are you going to paint the back of the tank to hide the plumbing?

Yes the overflows will cover the drains and the back im painting black. All of those will be done by the end of the weekend

so is this the second tank you've bought for it? I was confused when you said the first tank cracked. also, if so, idk if bondo was the best choice, it may crumble when wet or compress over time with weight. please give an update

Yes the first tank cracked when set on the stand cause the back wasnt level.

Bondo is used all the time in cabinets and so on. My friend uses it and he is a master cabinet builder. So no resaon it wont hold. Water wont affect it as it will be painted

So I got some work done on my 40 over the weekend so I figured I would update

I put a 2 x 4 in to mount my power strip to.

Sump completed

Painted the back of the tank black with some Krylon Fusion

Installed overflow and waiting for silicone to dry

Return installed. I used a wider spread to get more overall flow

Tank completed and ready for some water, sand, and rock. I just have to repaint the wall where the tank is going. Thats where I put my first tank that bombed lol (and had lots of salt creep onto the wall and destroy the paint), and plumb it.
