It's just another 40 Breeder thread

Everything looks real nice. Love the nems and Dendro.

Thank you Steph. Still waiting on the dendros to come out. Im giving them a week. Ive seen the tips of the tentacles pop out.

Update on the fish. The mandarin is doing great. Munching away in my tank. Actually has fattened up a bit since I got him. Im assuming the store didnt have a big pod population in the tank, but then again at one point they had a large amount of mandarins in this tank.

Havent taken a pic of my royal gramma. The filter went out on my QT so I had to replace it. After that he came out from behind the tank and you can see him from time to time. But tends to be a little shy. But eating well.

Also picked up some new frags. Some zoas and a acro verde.

Here is a link on how to get the "LPS NPS" corals to open
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1719839

Basically, you just put the coral in a small container (with water of course) and put some pieces of mysis or the like over the heads. The heads should open after a few minutes (or 30). You might need to train the polyps to come out during the day time, if you want to see them. I leave all of mine nocturnal...well because I'm nocturnal :spin2:

Well they are coming out a little. I squirt some food on them at night when I feed my corals. Also the guy I got them from says if they wont open, bring up the flow. He said in his tank this has happened to peopel he sold them to. Once they increased the flow on the coral, they opened up. Just letting them acclimate at this point. I also am not sure were I am going to place them yet

Yes the first tank cracked when set on the stand cause the back wasnt level.

Bondo is used all the time in cabinets and so on. My friend uses it and he is a master cabinet builder. So no resaon it wont hold. Water wont affect it as it will be painted

Do you think the bond-o fix will be strong enough?

Its been running for 7 months with no problems. It has held up. Also with it being painted over, it has no exposure to air or light or water for that matter so there is no worries if cracking. Now if it were something with movable parts, I would be concerned

So update on my fish like lol. I had gotten some new zoas....some havent opened yet so I havent taken pics yet.

The royal gramma is being alot less shy. Been in QT for a week and ah alkf...no sign of disease.

And finally, dont laugh everyone but Ive been looking on craigslist for a small tank. Something Ive been wanting for awhile now....a freshwater betta....yes I said freshwater. Lol. I dont know why. Maybe its the nostalgic with it being the first fish I ever had. Well I found a killer deal on CL for a Fluval Chi for $40 with a stand and a whole bunch of chemicals. Got it cleaned out and up and running and put my betta in there. Yes Im a dork.

You can laugh now lol

I have been using a regular screen from Home Depot since I had my tank running and finally ordered my BRS netting. So I made a new screen today.

And for anyone considering making a screen with the BRS netting...I definately recommend it. There is very minimal if any loss from the lights.

Well Ive been working on making my water easier to take care of. Havent really been working on any livestock, next week my Royal Gramma will be going in the main tank. He is doing well. No disease and a little eater.

My alk has been stable...but unfortunately during this time I have lost a few corals.

Ive also been planning out my next tank and this one will just be growing out colonies as I plan and work on my 90 gallon which I will be picking up this weekend.

I got a few new pieces of SPS for my tank

Nice tank. You are getting really good colours in your sps with the 2xblue plus, aquablue and purple plus T5's. Shame you'll be upgrading before the tanks sees a few years. Look forward to more sps shots in the meantime.
