Nice work Jeremy! Is it me or is the lights on the right side brighter than the left? ;)

Also how much water is the skimmer sitting in? Looks kind of high, I didn't know if it would affect its performance or not.

Yes, the overlflow does go into the skimmer section.

Think the water level is too high? Maybe i should look into that and see what the people at octopus suggest. I just copied Glaspies design figuring he knew what he was doin....

Looks good! I was kind of thinking that the right side looked brighter than the left too, but I think maybe it just looks that way because the rock on the right isn't covered in coraline yet.

LOL I never have a plan, I just built my sump the way I wanted it....I think my skimmer is doing ok, I figure it's less strain on my skimmer pump since the output is about an inch from the water line. Maybe we should ask Covey he knows alot about the octo skimmers

I have a 58 gallon Oceanic Reef Ready tank, and under it I have a 29 gallon sump w/ a skimmer and a few bio balls. I take the water down from the first floor to the basement to go through a chiller and pump it back to the tank. I want to take the water to a 55 gallon tank that is about 25 feet away from where the chiller is now. I'm thinking that the 55 should be large enough for skimmer, refugium etc. I still want to keep the chiller in the loop, but move it closer to the 55. The pump that I have is an external Iwaki, but I also have a Mak 4 that I'm not using that has a lot bigger capacity. I'm just worried about the flows, etc. I've looked at Melev's sump plans, and frankly, I'm not a good enough plumber to be sure that my situation fits with his plans. I guess my question is whether I can mess this up too much.

This is an e-mail from Octopus. Re a NW-200

Thank you for your enquiry, there is two important water levels to consider.

Water level in sump: The water level in the sump should be about 3 inches below the start of the neck line on the skimmer body, this is important so that there is enough water pressure for the pump to draw. It is important that the water level in the sump does not change dramatically or else it could cause back pressure and less bubbles would be created in the skimmer chamber.
Water level inside skimmer chamber: The water level inside the chamber should be around the start of the skimmer neck line. The way to achieve this is to adjust the water outlet pipe, by raising it up you would increase the water level inside the chamber and by lowering it you would reduce the water level.

Thanks for that info Jeremy. I've been running my waterlevel at the union..which is probably about 8" too low.

As far as your right side looking brighter, I'm sure it's just the camera over exposing the clean new rocks...that and they look to be more in the center of the tank where the light hits them directly compared to the ones on the left that are leaning up against the back.

yup its huuuuge....too bad its got HA, ive been running phosban for a week or so now and i think its going away.
