Iwaki pumps all that?

The reason I chose the Iwaki for my system was the pressure, 13psi. It overcomes more head resistance than other pumps. For example a typical 4800gph pump with a max head of 20 feet will deliver less water to my upstairs displays than an Iwaki 2000gph pump with 39 ft of max head. Be sure to figure your vertical and friction head loss and then read the performance curves for various pumps you are considering to ascertain which one gives you the amount of water you want at the display.

Lol... yes Gary I know.. hahaha. But even with my proper oiling and cleaning I'd say the 15 years of continuous use is pretty darn good..
yes- I like Little Giant pumps. They're like the Energizer Bunny! Just mentioning the lubrication factor for those unaware.

How often do you have to lubricate these? is it a painful process? It's looking like the Velocity's have heat issues. Anyone have anything to add on that front?

Cripes, there has to be a happy medium.....

Gonna start looking at the little giants now.....

I hit LG's with this stuff every 4 months.
There's a small port located on top of each pump. Some models have two ports.

I lubed mine a couple times a year, real simple.. just point and shoot with the little plastic straw on the Spray can.. I use white lithium spray grease ..

Good point Gary. A little white noise is better than the screaming of the newborn we're about to have and WAY better than my daughter when she's having a full on wobbler!

Hey Cully, I have a Hammerhead I hooked up to my system. While the flow is exceptional, it doesn't have enough cajones to run my two lifereef skimmers off it. I thought this may happen, so I just purchased a Reeflo Marlin from a fellow RC member. I should get it in a week or so, and then I'll do a side by side comparison. I'd love to get my hands on one of those kilowatt meters and see which one makes my energy supplier happier.

I ran a Hammerhead on my 180 from the basement. Loved it. It cranked! Not too quiet though. I like the Snapper and Dart, but I think it's just too much juice for what I want to do. But, I also have never see or heard either one of those pumps. Looking forward to hearing how the Marlin sounds.
