Back in Sept. I picked up a 90 gallon reef ready from the not so lfs on sale. Well I'm finally getting around to building a stand for it. Here's the start of my build.
corner of the room the tank's going in. Going to be a peninsula.

Thanks guys,
I'll keep the pictures coming along.
More in depth post will come tonight when I'm at home trying to type on my phone sucks.

Winter months there's going to sunlight but the window & door are getting shades. Spring & summer the sun is high enough in the sky that it doesn't come thru into the room.

After months of laziness on my part. The spring get you're butt in gear bug has bit me. So progress on the 90 gallon stand.

Doors have to be figured out. Trim is purchased. Just needs to be cut & poly'd. Hoping to get water in it by June., that's if the other house projects & the gf don't eat up my time.

Grumble grumble! Yeah my idea of using a 55 gallon as a sump isn't going to work.

It fits, but there's no room to get in there and work. :/

cold you pull the white bottom piece out of that stand and let it sit lower down on the floor? that'd give ya an extra what, 5" or so?

No. The frame is made from 2x6's

I think that he means the shelf on the bottom. Can you take that out and give yourself a few inches of height to work with? I'm thinking that even if you go with a shorter sump, the clearance that you have now will limit which skimmers will fit under there.

It looks awesome! I'm looking forward to following the rest of your build.

gotta take that bottom out. Or go with a sump that's not as tall as a 55 ...but more than likely you STILL won't have the clearance for a skimmer.

Take the bottom out.

I have a reef octopus nwb150, there would be no way to get the cup out. I also want to fit 2 brs media reactors for my Gfo & carbon & a top off/kalk container in there.
As much as I want the 55 to work for the extra water volume there's no way I can make it work. Really thought I had this planned out correctly in my sketches. I must of screwed up somewhere.
