Izshocker's 90 gallon build thread

I have a reef octopus nwb150, there would be no way to get the cup out. I also want to fit 2 brs media reactors for my Gfo & carbon & a top off/kalk container in there.
As much as I want the 55 to work for the extra water volume there's no way I can make it work. Really thought I had this planned out correctly in my sketches. I must of screwed up somewhere.

I did the reactors for a while. I ended up ditching them in favor of stuffing a media bags between the baffles of my sump. I've been happy with the performance and it takes up significantly less space.

Here's my fix for the 55 gallon not fitting. A. Eshopps RS300

Grumble grumble! Yeah my idea of using a 55 gallon as a sump isn't going to work.

It fits, but there's no room to get in there and work. :/

Nice build, this is the MAIN reason I make taller stands.. hope you can make a large sump work for yourself ..

One thing I do need to have done, is figure out if any structural beefing up of the floor needs to be done before filling this thing with water.
Tank runs parallel with the joist, but the joists are real short spans in that section if the crawlspace, maybe Max 5 feet.

Absolute worst case scenario the whole setup would be 1,400 pounds if that helps at all Mr. Boone. The not so local LFS ehh?

Today's progress ImageUploadedByTapatalk1369574067.722595.jpg

To finish the trim I need to go over to my buddy's and use his band saw.
I need to notch around this

And I know my skills with the table saw are not that good. I'd end up missing fingers.

his stand is the right height but he put that bottom in it and chose a 55 for a sump. Not good. Now he got an esshops sump which fits but we still don't know if he tried sticking the skimmer under there....

Ideally... you don't want to place an aquarium parallel to joists. If this aquarium is located on floorboards between joists there could be a problem.

Sorry if any of this info is already known but I had to post just in case....

Stand trim all finished :)
Doors need to be figured out but I'm in no rush to do that.
Just need to line up some help to lift the tank onto the stand. Then the plumbing fun begins. :)

Did some work over the weekend.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1371057984.075259.jpg

What I've figured for the aquascaping.

Another shot of aquascaping

The egg crate was put down with that in mind because the rocks originally had a lot of points and were unstable. I took a hacksaw to them to flatten out the bottom. Much more stable. Egg crate will be coming out before the sand goes in.

Have you considered removing the pannels of the 55 and having them cut down a few inches then reassembling the tank for the sump? Looks like it would work well if only it were shorter, i dont think the sides of 55's are tempered just the bottoms
