Jackson's 115 Gallon Custom Cube 32x32x26

Hey I just saw your light for sale in the FS forum. What's new?

I got my hands on a brand new Giesemann Spectra. I thought this was a good opportunity to upgrade aesthetically, and get more spread from the Giesemann reflector. I changed my aquascape a little to make more room, also several corals were removed. I am in the process of clearing some corals of the sandbed in an attempt to reduce clutter. Ironically I had a friend dump off a bunch of his messed up expensive SPS pieces while he attempts to correct problems with his reef. Now I have 2 frag racks full of clutter lol. There are a couple of nice pieces though :spin2:

Here is the spectra with added blue reefbrites.

And a quick FTS with the new lights taken with an iPhone. This is very close to the actual spectrum of my tank. With all the blue LED and T5, sometimes pics come out overly blue.

Welldone richard, tank and corals look awesome:beer:
And it looks so natural!
And fwiw, your pics are very good:)

Looks fantastic!

I'm a big fan of cube tanks. Currently setting up a frameless 93 in the basement to serve as a magnifica species tank, and I'll definitely be borrowing some ideas.

Borrow away! :) Thanks for the compliment.

I was doing a little maintenance earlier and shut down all the pumps. I figured it was a good time update this multi colored coral that I've been growing, I still didn't name it. Local guys by me have been calling it "Jackson's Special". That's good enough for me. I feel less masculine if I give it a cheesy name:ape:

I've gotten 6 frags out locally in some great systems, I am confident it will be safe now. I see a lot of tenuis type corals that get red highlights when you bake them. I still feel that this is a different strand since I get green polyps all over.
I'm going to let it grow for the next couple of months, and the next batch of frags will be shipped to a few guys on the west coast.

Pic taken with an iPhone5. Photo was cropped and sharpness was increased. (you can see one of the frags to the bottom right)

How are you liking the new light?

Better halide spread, brighter t5 output, and I feed safer that there is not so much weight hanging from my ceiling. Only bad part is that the Giesemann spills halide light into the room. The sfiligoi slopes down in the from and back a couple of inches to block light spill. Overall I am happy with the switch. The tank is brighter and that's what I wanted. Everything in the tank doing well btw. I'll get an update together soon with quality DSLR pics.

How's your tank coming along?

That's good to hear! Maybe you can devise something to help reduce the light spill.

My tank is doing pretty good and the corals are growing at a steady rate (actually crowding the tank pretty bad). One of my caps is growing onto the side glass. I'm planning a new tank build, and already snagged a used light off the forum here. I'll be joining the radium club :) New tank dimensions are 48x24x16.
