Jackson's 60 Cube.... Long Story

With the 34" stand and a 40x40 tank, I cannot reach the back corner, but that is ok, I have tongs for that and just piled up the GSP there. :D You have got fantastic growth from the Geismann, it is not a slouch of a light but it is no where near the Sfiligoi.

Jack I'm excited to see the difference. I haven't had 400's on a tank since 2007. On my old 120 I upgraded from 250 de's to 400 in luminarcs......what a difference! Colors, growth, and coverage was so much better. Probably overkill on a 60....we'll see :)

Overkill is not a bad thing, it will be awesome on the tank and is a fixture to grow with. Does the fixture have T5's for supplements or just the MH?

It's the XR6 which has a 400w SE + 4 T5's and moon lights. Going to run a radium and i'll play around with t5 combinations.

Thanks for the info and advice, Richard! I've been thinking about adding more rocks. I definitely want to add a sand bed. I'm hoping that'll help too. Thanks again!

Nice pics Rich. Looks almost as good as it does in person.

Thanks James. The iphone fits in the eshopps view perfectly;) I took the reeflux out the next day :) I'm back to 20k for now:lol2:

Glad that I could help Kasey. I have some ideas for you. I'll comment on your thread.

gotta get that yellow out. i really like top down shots. my favorite thing with my tank is to turn off all movement and just stare down in the short lived silence. (until the fish decide to go to town on the mp40) :frog::frog:

You are such a bad reefer my friend! Didn't you just tell me 400W for my tank was "Overkill"?? I have some colonies for the frag tank for ya. Come get them. Are you putting the Geismann over the frag tank now?

Nah I am going to force you to use it

Deal was same tanks, same corals but 2 seperate methods of husbandry. We still have the whole summer left till we compare... Plus going for the new ATI Powermodule next week. ;)

Tank's looking great Rich. Nice work. Do you have any plans for fish?

I'm thinking about putting a 250 watt MH on my Solana. The Radion is great but I just can't leave things alone :lol2:

Thanks Eric. I think I have 11 fish :uhoh2:

Melanarus wrasse
yellow coris wrasse
possum wrasse
2 pj cardinals
2 purple firefish
1 orange anthias
1 chromis
1 blue damsel (die you pos)
1 flame hawk

Give the radion some time. Once you put a 250 over the tank, you lose the convenience and simplicity of keeping a nano.

I snapped a couple shots tonight. Everything is doing well/growing.

I should have the new Sfigoli fixture over the tank next week. Can't wait. I love the color and intensity of a 400w radium. :clown:

Richard, your tanks are looking nice!

Have you noticed any browning of the SPS since the tanks are less than 6 months old?

Also, since you have many years of experience and a few awesome tanks in the past, would the following be a good assumption:

If, Ca, Mg, Alk are stable, and nitrates are low (ie less than 2-5 ppm); is phosphate the MAIN thing in the way of colourful SPS?

Thanks sahin :)

Phosphate I would say is the most important thing in terms of survival and color, but different lighting intensities coupled with varying nutrient levels are important for tweaking colors. I'm also a believer that larger tanks, which house larger bacterial populations, grow corals faster than smaller tanks.

Finally got the Sfigioli Fixture! :)

It was difficult to find the right size grip locks to hang this thing. Finally, after a little rigging, it's over the tank (temporarily). I have to make new holes in the ceiling to position fixture further back over tank. It's hard to tell from the video but i actually like the look of the Sfigioli over the tank. The color of the radium is amazing. I plan on running it without t5 so electrical use would be the same as the previous 250w geismann fixture I was using.

Quick video with a crappy flip cam

Great color and the tank is looking very good as well. That is just one of the best fixtures ever made.
