Almost that time again. Joe, you still fragging? If so i'll have to bring some extra change. I'm getting tons of sps growth from ya and the zoas have tripled in numbers since I got them from ya.

Joe,
How about doing the home made fish food? I don't have a blender...but I'll bring ingredients obviously. It's been a while since we did that and my tank really liked it last time.

+1 DIY food. I'm curious which recipes have worked out there. I tried a recipe out a few months back and when I used it the tank seemed to respond with dino's around the same time. Not sure if this is coincidental but I'm interested in giving it another go.

On a side note - anyone given phyto/rotifers a try? I've been dosing bottled phyto the past few weeks and my SPS seems to really be responding. I think the scrubber is making the water too clean and I want to try increasing plankton-type foods. This will get expensive (and it's not the greatest source) so I want to give the fresh stuff a try.

I think SPS take up very little phytoplankton compared to zooplankton (phyto are not their preferred food). The phyto will help the zooplankton, but in my experience the addition of phyto has always made it harder to keep algae at bay. I have tried phyto in the past several times and have discontinued use. YMMV

Yup, gotcha on the zooplankton. That's why I want to grow up some rotifers. However, to do rotifers it helps to feed them live phyto (at least according to what I've been reading). It doesn't seem to high tech but I haven't tried it yet. I suspect it might be a challenge to keep going beyond a first generation.

I am looking forward to coming to the meeting. I can bring a few frags of frrogspawn and green monti's if interested. Will need an address.... is that going to be posted?

I'd love to go but I can't take two days off in a month, I just don't have the personal/sick time at work (have only been with the company for a year) and I was planning on going to CTARS' meeting this month.

I plan on making February though, and meeting some sweet people. Hope is goes well guys.

Dap, it's posted in the very first post under location. As for the DIY food, let's discuss at this meeting and do it in Feb. It takes some planning.

Would anyone like some Chaeto? The piece Joe gave me last year has grown to fill the whole section of my sump!

I should be able to make it on Saturday. Looking forward to it, could use some frags to fill up the new tank and I need someone to talk Apex with ... I'm having some newbie trouble.
