Wow! I say wow firstly not because of the tanks, but because of the comments I have had to read through. I say "had to" because I didnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t want to comment until I read everything because that would be biased and unfair. I was deeply disturbed by some of the comments so I felt like I had to write a response. Keep in mind that this is only my opinion. Its upsetting to me that we have some people on the boards here who feel it is necessary to make such negative comments on others tanks, who obviously fake or not, are beautiful. Pardon me for saying this but as a sociology major I evaluate perspectives and look very deeply into them. IMO as Americans we subconsciously feel we are somehow superior to others. I think the fact that this post was prefaced with "Japanese" we (some of us) automatically have to become somewhat defensive of our own techniques, systems, and aquariums. So what if these guys have "crazy" systems or a bunch of dosing pumps. I have never seen anyone called crazy on the boards for wanting to put 1000's of watts of lights on their tank. And besides, so what if they take 100's of hours cleaning their tanks. We as hobbyists who strive for conversation should be happy that there are people in this world who take this hobby this seriously and are willing to take the time and money to do it as "properly" as they can. Many feel like the tanks do not look natural. Well how natural does your 55 or 100 gallon cube look compared to the ocean. I just feel like some of the comments were out of jealously, were totally irrelevant, and had a western superiority connotation about them. It just seems a little sad that we have to become negative others tanks. Let me pose a question to all those who have felt like they needed to be negative about these tanks. Would your comments be the same if these tanks were prefaced with "German" or "American"?
