Jawfish with S. gigantea?

Last weekend I found a male and female of Opistognathus rosenblatti (Blue Spotted Jawfish) at a store here. Since the price was good and I was pretty sure they were of different sex I took them home.
Right now they are in a 2 gallon Petco pet carrier for TTM (they came with a good load of ich) and so far they get along very well - there hasn't even been the slightest display of aggression.

Initially I intended to put them in my new 100 gallon reef tank, but that one will also have a gigantea in it.

The thing that really made me question if it is a good idea was when I observed the female having a panic attack. Out of the blue she shot out of her hole and darted mindlessly around in the container (it's good it has a lid) for a few seconds. The male just took cover in his hole. After she stopped bouncing around she soon returned to her hole, but was breathing heavy.

If something like that happens in a tank with a gig and the fish bumps into it, it's history. So I will likely put them into the 42 CAD light tank as soon as the regal gang in there can be moved to their new home in the 100 gallon.

It's just that the 100 gallon tank would offer more height for the Blue Spot male to do its mating dance...

Maybe I reconsider based on how they behave in QT.

Thoughts?

I understand your concern. I've seen jawfish freak out for no apparent reason, and they dart all over the tank. I can see yours easily darting into a gig. Furthermore, I lost a flame hawk to a large gig. I think any fish without a swim bladder can easily become nem food, whether is be a panic attack, carelessness, or stupidity.

Ah, yes the stupidity. My Helfrichi firefish is stupid. Almost went into a gig a few times. I caught one of her suicide attempts on camera. The gig had to be rehomed till I set up the larger tank. Here's a video of the Helfrichi messing around with the gig

I'm also interested in this. Been wanting to put a gig in my 180 but I'm scared about a blenny or something getting eaten. If it happened to a $200+ fish, my wife won't be very happy.

Dedicated anemone tank.

Carpets will get their own tank. I MIGHT put a bubble or a mag in my reef. Easier to control a mag and bubbles don't do near the damage of a carpet.

Jaw fish may be problematic in a carpet tank. I lost both of my Yellow Head Jawfish over several months in my DT. I learned that these species will not last long in a carpet tank:
Mandarin, I lost 2
Leopard wrasse, I lost 2
Orchid dottyback, I lost 2
Yellow head Jawfish, I lost 2
All of the above were doing well, eating well, and just not there one day. Not even bone was found.
