The gorgonians are healing and growing back from when my 180 cracked, most of them lost a lot of tissue.

Im pretty sure it only needs to be regenerated once it turns brown.

Not that purigen is expensive, but is anyone "regenerating"? The directions that come with it say you can "regenerate" once the media shows "discoloration of the beads from yellow to deep brown".

A single 100ml packet is rated for 100US gallons. Not sure how long it is supposed to treat that 100US gallons, but for the sake of argument - let's say a week. With a 25g tank (for the sake of argument) that gives you a month use before replacement/regeneration. I would guess you could "regenerate" at least once per packet (giving you a total of at least 2 months per 100ml packet)

Simple recipe to "regenerate", and could save a couple bucks:
Soak in a 1:1 bleach:water solution for 24 hours in a non-metallic container in a well ventilated area and away from children. Rinse well, then soak for 8 hours with a solution containing 2 tablespoons of Prime, or equivalent dechlorinator per cup of water. Rinse well. Original color and full activity should now be restored and Purigen is ready for reuse.

Would I have problems if I added reef grade sand to the tank? It has been barebottom from day 1. It's been set up for about 3 months

Here are few quick cell phone shots of my nano, much work ahead in the next week. Adding a lot of equipment (RKE, autotop off, Fuge, etc) as well as some new livestock once it has been moved from my office back to my house.

scape looks good, I've always had problems with the overhangs and losing real estate for frags. Those taken on the new iPhone?

Yeah i did loose some real estate, i'm gunna be cleanin out some of the junk on the bottom of the tank that came from my other breakdown, and clear it up. going for less is more, right now its pretty tight in there. Pictures were taken on the old 3G. I'm ready for the new Iphone for sure.

Here is a video of my tank. It needs a good glass cleaning, but I wanted to show off my new pink skunks. The video was taken with my cell phone so the quality is not that great.

Westerreefer, Karp and Seesquared, your tanks are both beautiful.

On a side note, the wife decided to surprise me and ordered me a Vortech EcoSmart Mp10 today. Hopefully it will be here by the end of next week. Big Al's had them on sale for $194.00 plus free shipping.

Your one lucky man! lol Wish I could get an MP10.

My tank crashed this morning. Woke up at 8 am and looked at the tank and everything was dieing! I think most of the fish are dead, corals are not doing good at all. Did a 50% water change and more water is mixing right now. Now its 11:20am and everything is starting to get better once I did the water change an hour ago. That's good I had another tank running(8 gallon biocube) I put all my favorite stuff in there and that stuff is alive. The only things that were alive and well and weren't affected by the tank crashing were the leathers, all the gorgonians, and all the shrimp. I have no idea why the tank crashed, yesterday the tank looked amazing, the best its even been. Everything was open, happy, and doing very well. The only think I did on Saturday was clean the back chamber of all the fish poo, did a big water change(like 10-13 gallons or so), and changed out my GFO like I have done every month for several months. Threw away the 40 grams of old GFO and added 25 grams of new GFO. Can't think of anything that would do this unless the power went out on the tank for some reason.... Right now, I'm looking into making an automated water change system and hook it up to a controller and a battery back up system for the powerheads. So, if the params go out of whack the automated water change system turns on or if the power goes out, the powerheads will turn on.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about the tank crashing. I wonder what happened? :sad1: You had an amazing looking tank to say the least.

I cleaned out my back chamber last week, soaked my pumps in a mild vinegar bath to clean them. Guess I didn't rinse them well enough, cause when I put them pack in I had BIG pH crash. Any chance something like that happened to you?
