JBJ 28 Gallon Nano Owners Club

I am using the osmolator pump, which voids the warranty. The pumps are cheap to replace so I really don't mind.

I was thinking of chaing my stock return pumps to some MJ's, but I wanted to know weither to go with two 1200's or two 900's. I also have a MP10 in there. Any suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks

Hmmm....I have an MP10 and use one stock pump. I'm thinkin of upgradng that pump as well. Thinking MJ1200 but not sure how much of a tight fit it will be down there.

I'm running an MP10 and a single MJ1200 right now...got a deal on the MP10 and this will keep it spinning until I get a Tunze 6055 and can move the MP10 into my other tank.

The combo works fine. I have the MP10 on 100% reef crest and it's kinda noisy but not too bad. The single MJ1200 is plenty of flow for the back and fits down the side easily enough.

I bought the 2010 version of the Tunze Osmolator which came with the new magnet attachments, so I am not sure how many come in the magnet pack, but I think it should come with the two magnets, best check with the LFS or Roger Vitko.
I ordered the magnet pack thinking there would be 2 and it only comes with 1, which sucks. In this size tank the Osmolator continues to pump and trips the alarm. Now, the alarm seems to be tripping every few minutes even though it's not pumping any water. I wish I would have got another magnet because at this point I'm kinda mad that I spent 30 bucks plus shipping for just 1.

Ah man, that sucks. If you need anything else from the vendor then buy that too so it makes paying the shipping cost worthwhile.

You definately do need two magnets. Let me know how it goes and drop me a PM if you get any problems.

I just change them out if habit. The purigen is only half exhausted. He middle chamber is easy to make and cost less than 5 dollars. I will try to post a pic this weekend.
Not that purigen is expensive, but is anyone "regenerating"? The directions that come with it say you can "regenerate" once the media shows "discoloration of the beads from yellow to deep brown".

A single 100ml packet is rated for 100US gallons. Not sure how long it is supposed to treat that 100US gallons, but for the sake of argument - let's say a week. With a 25g tank (for the sake of argument) that gives you a month use before replacement/regeneration. I would guess you could "regenerate" at least once per packet (giving you a total of at least 2 months per 100ml packet)

Simple recipe to "regenerate", and could save a couple bucks:
Soak in a 1:1 bleach:water solution for 24 hours in a non-metallic container in a well ventilated area and away from children. Rinse well, then soak for 8 hours with a solution containing 2 tablespoons of Prime, or equivalent dechlorinator per cup of water. Rinse well. Original color and full activity should now be restored and Purigen is ready for reuse.

SlvrSurfRidr: I use Purigen because Chemi-pure isnt sold in the UK, and most ebay stores from the USA charge 3 times the cost of the product for shipping it here (want to ship to me?). So, I use Purigen. I dont regenrate it cos I cant be bothered with the effort required. I use it to keep my nitrates at zero and it does that. Its been two months and it still hasnt exhausted. But I believe my tanks bio filtration is up to speed with denitrification anyway.

I dont mind paying for a new one every 4 months or so.

I'm with sahin on this one. I really don't know how long it will last, it's been about a month for me and everything seems fine. Same for my chemipure, I will probably change both in a couple of more months.

nic426: you have a very nice tank. What halide bulb are you using? I am using the Phoenix 14K bulb which while makes corals colours pop, I am not getting good growth. Growth seems very slow to me. I also have 16 cree LED's in there, so lightwise I should be fine, but growth is slow.

Anyone have any suggestions for a bulb that will get me fast growth? Please only suggest if you are sure and have first hand experiance. Many thanks.
