JBJ nano12 and MJ1200-too much?

Do you think that would be too much flow with a mj1200 and a hydor flow? I keep mostly softies and a torch and candy cane.

the mj is an unusual shape, so it did add a little noise--possibly could solve that.

That is what I have in mine. It moves the sand around some but not enough to cause a problem.

I'm not sure how compatible a 1200 and the hydor flo are. I know hydor recommends the MJ900, max.

I would do the MJ 900 I have read the MJ 1200 runs much hotter.
I have a MJ 900 with the hydor flo and am quite happy with it.
One mod you can do with the hydor is to heat the edge of the nozzle (the lip part) to bend it towards the center, it will increase the velocity of the water coming out much like putting your thumb over the end of a garden hose.

I would go with the 900, its 9watts, comared to the 1200 is 20, seems like they maxed out the power just to get more flow out of it (the 1200 body housing is the same size as the 400-900, just differant power supply, and differant sized impellers) I have a 1200 in my 30 and had the hydro flo on it for awhile, and it really made a big valley in my sand!!

I also cut off that big black plastic ring at the butt end of it, that looks like it does nothing. As in the pic you can see that they are less bulky looking. You can also see the huge vally created by my 1200 its from the middle to the right, in the front.

I like um, they create great random flow.

The hydros are both on 900's now, and the 1200 was placed where the 900 is now, and it still mixed the sand even in the valley!!

quick update--the hydor kept popping off, so I just pinched off a little plastic bag and inserted it in the lip as I put the flo back on. So far so good--stayed on last night

My MJ900 pops off the Hydor in my BC14 so I super glued that thing on and it stays nicely. I can rip it off when I need to without too much damage.

To get it ot fit use the adapters you get with it. Heat one up so it is pliable them quickly slip it on the end of your fitting.

I have tried both...use a 900 for heat issues, the diff between flow is not as much as you might think in actual use. If you think you need more flow, even 2-900's will give off less heat than 1-1200.

I use a 900 in chamber 3 and a 606 in chamber 1, its just right for me.

i have a rio 600 on my hydor in an NC6, but i feel the hydor reduces flow output significantly... do you think a Maxijet 900 would be too much for a 6 gallon nano cube?
