How do you like the abyzz pump? Does it live up to the specs and price tag? I don't see many people running them yet but if they can push the head ft they say, then I really want one!

Thanks for all the kind word everyone, I was away last week when I posted that video, so I apologize for the late responses.

Looking good joe really starting to fill in

Yeah, the whole tank is really picking up steam. I'm going to have to get in there and start cutting down some of the acros that are growing into the smaller corals.

I watched your May video as well. The difference is stunning.

Thanks, Looking back at some of the older videos and pics, it is crazy how fast it seem to grow once the corals get to a certain stage.

Looks beautiful, Joe

Thanks Dave!

I like it a lot. It absolutely lives up to the specs, it is able to push out a lot of water at really high head pressure. If they could get the price down they would sell like mad.

Fantastic, Joe!
Amazing growth. So good!!

Thanks Matt, yeah good times for the tank finally!

Hi Joe! Can you tell use how you prepare your daily blend of elements?

thanks

Sure into 1 liter of rodi I mix
Manganese Chloride 0.25g
Zinc Chloride 0.19g
Potassium Iodide KI 0.81g

Then I dose 1.8ml per 100 Liters per day.

Thanks :)

You use the products from Triton, why you don´t add them in the liquids directly. You just need to speak with Triton and ask which bottles or liquides has Manganese, Iodine and zinc. Many here in Germany, for example, they use core 7 from Triton and they add the iodine directly to one of the bottles. You only need to calculate based on your daily dosage. Triton can tell you exactly how much to add based on your dosage.

Also, do you think that Manganese precipitate after/before dosing? Each time I try too reise it, the Triton result always show 0.

Thanks :)

You can use Triton if you want, no issues with it at all. But each Triton bottle is around $35 and with the amount I would dose each bottle would last around 2 months. Buying it dry and mixing my own solution cost $43 total and will last me more than 5 years.

I started with the dosage based on what Triton recommended and have increased the amounts based of subsequent tests. I just sent out for another test so I will see if the amounts I am now dosing need to be adjusted again.

Oh I forgot... I am dosing 2 other elements every 2 weeks.

Strontium: 33mg of Strontium Chloride (Seachem)
Vanadium: 0.6ml Triton Vanadium

Thanks :)

I have not seen anyone get a Manganese reading yet. I think it gets used very quickly.

Geeez!!! :inlove:

Spectacular growth !

Do you monitor your nitrates & phosphates and ph ?
If so where do you keep them?

Spectacular Joe!

Thank you Bill! How is your tank doing?

Geeez!!! :inlove:

Sort of. I monitor Nitrates pretty closely, I keep them around 5-10 ppm. Phosphates I really do not test anymore. However I was having some issues with my cheato not growing for about 6-8 months but my nitrates were fine so I just ignored it. Then, back in mid February I tested PO4 for the first time in about 8 months and they were at .52 lol! higher than I have had them in the past. In the end I swapped out the chaeto for some new stock from the LFS and the Phosphates started to come down, 2 weeks ago they were at .32 but I have not tested since. pH I don't really worry about, my apex monitors pH, it's always between 8.2 and 8.5 but I am not tracking it other than an occasional glance at the reading now and then.

So the high phosphate reading has really shone me that P is not nearly as important as I once thought it was years ago. My tank didn't brown out with P over 0 and didn't slow down growth at all. Lowering it has had no effect on anything either. I just still feel it is best not to let phosphates get too high which is why I took some corrective action.

Oh yeah, I got some pics for everyone too!

Thanks! That last one is the UC Pink Bali Shortcake.

Thanks Joe. So, it is actually Acropora latistella then. I have a frag of it in my own tank. It is busy with encrusting its base. I hope it will look as impressive as your colony one day.

That took a considerable amount of time to both encrust and then start growing, once it did encrust it got very dark, then it started to show some good growth. Once it started growing the color really took off. It is currently one of my favorite pieces, it look even better in person.

Good luck with yours.

Coral farmer who sold me the frag said to me that "I have noticed with this coral that under very high light intensity (450 +) the shimmer appears on the coral......slightly metallic growth tips and to the polyps as well. Under lower light (350) it looks very similar to yours." (see mine below).

My frag receives about 350 mmol/m2/sec PAR.

How much light does your coral receive?

Mine is at the bottom of the tank. As a frag I had it up high, and didn't love the color, so I moved it back to the bottom 1/3rd and glued it to the rock work. It probably gets around 300-350 PAR where it is.
