JBNY's 270 Ver2.0

Nice Joe! Just noticed the BC soda popinski. I just picked one up...totally underrated acro. Btw, are you using radiums for MHs?

Thanks, yeah that is the soda pop, grows pretty slow but I agree it is an awesome coral.

Yes, I am using Radiums.

Wow! Everything looks beautiful. The purple/mauve pieces with yellow tips are beastly! It is a joy following your thread.

Very impressive work, corals look great and growth is too die for. Is the last photo in post 679 the Bali Shortcake from UC? Whatever it is, it is beautiful. Thanks for sharing all your info. with us struggling SPS freaks.

That's what I thought. I looked around online for them for sale but couldn't find any. I seen they are super hard to get eating.

My LFS has nine of them in stock. I would take them all, but not a one will even pick at live brine, let alone frozen.

really nice gems in there. the FF, and that last one are awesome

Thanks, I really went out of my way to choose corals that I thought would be very colorful and spent time trying to spread out the colors through the tank.

Many thanks, the thread started out pretty rough and I had some tough time getting the tank moving again, but I am very happy with it now!

Loving the colours mate!

Thanks, the color is probably the best I have had in my tank. This is the first time I am using Radium MH. I had in the past used 10K and 14K bulbs. Color was good with all the bulbs but this is just a little bit more than I could get with those other bulbs.

Thank you! Yes that last pick is the UC Pink Bali SC.

What are the small purple fish? They look like a type of anthias. The wife wants me to pick some up, lol.

Tuka or Queen Purple anthias.

Yeah they are known for being really hard to keep due to not eating. I was able to get 13 of them and just got lucky and was able to get them to eat. I feed them 3 times a day a mixture cyclopeeze and hikari Mysis shrimp. eventually I was able to get them on just the mysis, now I have them eating pellets as well.

Nope, some of them are really getting big!

Thanks bud, I'll let you know.

Thanks guys!!

Here are a few more pics.

You're good, Joe. Not only have you gone out of your way to choose corals that would provide contrasting colours in the display tank but you have posted them with the same tensions in mind.
I like it! :)
Your tank is back on its way to being outrageously amazingly crazy again!

What type of cyclopeeze? Frozen or freeze dried? Could you please list a link to the food? Your tank is banging!

lol That is so true. I do always break up my pics so that the same colors are not in consecutive pictures.

+1. Curious as well. Your tank truly is beautiful.

What I am using right now was given to me to try, so I don't know where you can buy it online but it is the cyclop-eeze in frozen form from jehmco.com

Actually, Joe, I have a question. I recently did a salifert sr. test on my tank. I got a reading of maybe 4 mg/l. Looooooow.. edit.. I think it's actually ppm, not mg/l..
Do you have any experience with the salifert kit? It's accuracy? I'm surprised considering I use a ca reactor but I have begun supplementing with KW dosing at night and since doing this both mag and apparently sr. have fallen..

Hello Joe... Any update? Still dosing the same traces?

Things are doing great, tank is growing like a weed. I will take some pics over the weekend. I am still doing everything exactly the same.

I found if you do not actively dose Strontium it will always be either depleted or low. So I would trust the Salifert test, it was correct when I used it.

At this point based on my Sr consumption I jusy buy the Seachem dry strontium supplement and just mix up 33g in 500ml of rodi water and dump it in the sump every 2 weeks.

I know we are all busy but when you have some time, photos, baby! :)

I can remember following your old tank back in 2003/04 and being in awe. Looks like youve done it again because your tank 2.0 is wonderful. Congrats on a splendid job. The corals you post are envious of most. Pictures like that are what drew me to this hobby years ago. Thank you for sharing (again).
