Jcr's Rimless

My new leopard wrasse finally came out of hiding. She stayed out for about a whole hour before decending beneath the sand again : ( . My potters wrasse stays out all day until the lights go out. Very hard to take a picture of them, let alone get a good picture with them together.

Hard to imagine that this tank has only been wet for 6 months, and only had coral in it for for 5. Coral really took off looking back at the old pics, especially for not dosing regularly and not even having the dosing pumps hooked up yet (I know I know). I'm sure I'll have a lot of frags after the move with the colonies breaking in the buckets. It'll make re-aquascaping easier though. Gotta be positive right?

The new leopard wrasse really fit in. I was leery on purchasing her b/c she was a new arrival to the LFS and looked a little beat up, but I had good luck with my potters wrasse so I gave her a try. After about a week of hiding in my tank under the gravel (only coming out for about 10min. a day) she stayed out most of the day today. She even accepted frozen mysis and brine shrimp today, so that made me really happy. She sleeps right under my male flame wrasse.

The new lavender tang, elbi angel, and potters angel were also removed from the frag tank and went in the main display today. I still have 1 potters angel in my frag tank I'm still observing. He picks here and there but his stomach is small. If he doesnt start eating more by tomorrow I'm probably going to do some prazipro for internal parasites (I hate treatments but I know prazipro works well).

Sail fin Showing who's boss to the newly introduced lavender tang when I put the algae sheet in. No conflicts between the two tangs though =)

Trial run with the New ATB Elegance skimmer. Only running for about 22hrs here. I don't think the K2 is going back in. I'm wanting to upgrade b/c once we move I plan on adding a few more tanks being plumbed into my overall system. I'm really liking it so far. Good foam production for it being new.

Put together the screen top this morning. 1/4" clear screen so it doesn't block any of the light out and keeps my smaller fish in. I've lost too many from jumping so I'm not taking anymore chances. Really didn't turn out too bad, but it's going to take getting use to.

New house should be done being built soon. The back family room is where the tank will probably live out the rest of it's life. It will most likely be centered on the right side wall and be plumbed out into the garage.

Just a garage I know but I'm getting more and more stoked about moving. The plan is to build a closet style room where the paint cans are now sitting for all of my filtration equipment. The build will start 2' away from the furnace and stop 4' shy from the breaker so I can have a work area. It will be a small addition, but very functional.

I've read bio-pellets are the solid from of vodka dosing and I've been wanting to try them. It's a little scary to leave the pellets run full time because I can't judge how much is added like I can when dosing vodka. I would say its still to be determined if you can actually overdo the pellets and I understand the theory behind them about this but I still don't totally trust it. I dose MB7 and vodka every once in awhile just to give my tank a little kick from time and I figured I would give bio-pellets a try. I got some from a buddy which is really the only reason I'm trying them now instead of later because of the mixed reviews. I wonder if each brand is experiencing the same results or totally different results (algae blooms, etc..). The brand I'm trying out are the ATB HQ Bio-pellets.
I soaked them for 24hrs before putting them in line. I started with only 100ml or so for my total water volume of around 180g of water because I didn't want to add to much. They are running in a TLF reactor w/ a MJ 600 pump. I took out the foam and added some screen to prevent clumping or clogging.

I added the reactor to my tank yesterday. My ph usually runs on the low side (7.6 or so) and once I added the reactor my ph dropped to 7.3. I don't know whether its a coincidence or what. Later I looked at the graph on my RKE and my ph was jumping all around throughout the day from 7.3-7.8. My alk was 8, sal. is 1.026 so I don't know what else could be causing the ph swing. The only thing I have added to the tank this week is MB7 and that was probably 3 days ago. This morning my ph is at 7.5 and still jumpy so I have no idea whats going on.

The media is still tumbling great, no clumping or clogging of any kind. For the number crunchers out there, I won't be displaying test results. It's been a long time since I have tested for Po4 and has been a couple of years since I have tested for nitrates. I'm just seeing what effect they have on my system (colors, skimmate, etc..) and seeing what problems (hopefully none) I experience. Any thoughts or personal experience with them I'd love to hear.

Some of my favorite zoa's. Started out with a couple polyps. Would like to get some Candy Apple Reds and Rasta's once we move and settle down.

Thought this was pretty cool. My Flame wrasse started sleeping under my birdsnest colony this week. Here is a night time shot.....not colorful but pretty neat..

Wondering if anyone can help ID this acro. I bought it a while ago in a frag pack and it's been growing out in my frag tank. The more light I give it, the brighter the purple becomes. The base is a greenish/blue/purple.

I just moved it over to my main DT last night, so I guess we'll see if the 150w can hold the color in it.

Been clearing out the tank to make room for some more coral. It all should be arriving tomorrow!!!!! Kinda went overboard but its alright, I hope...
