Hi BB
It is a Hydor Performer 3000... running on 3 foaming pumps (needlewheel) wih a capacity of up to 3000L (heavy stocking). My unit was the first in Singapore (possibly the region). Been using it since Dec 06... very happy with the results so far :D

High quality skimmate...

The collection cup is quite large... against my Nokia phone

One of my favourite SPS... Acropora Sarmentosa from Walt Smith... I nicknamed it Pink (French) Caps... strawberry flavour :D

Growing rapidly and healthy polyps extension... however I notice the polyps turning slightly brownish recently... time for a water change I suppose :(

Share with you guys something strange happened last month... one of my Helfrichi Firefish looking really bizarre :eek2:

Some reefers suggested Bristle Worm attack  What you guys think?

 id try a fresh water dip, buffered to the same ph as your tank. Id imagine that if they are bristle worms, they wont appreciate the shock of the fresh water and should fall of.

I dont think gillette make a razor for fish :p

Sorry mate couldnt help myself.

Good luck with the fish and hope you find a solution if the dip doesnt work. Its a beautiful fish.

Actually what I did was... NOTHING :D

The Helfrichi went into hiding for 1 day... refuse to eat for 1 more day... and it recovered all by itself!!!  :)

looks better in the second picture, but that could be the lights.

I hope it looks as good or if not better when seen in the tank.
The first pix was taken under 2 x 250W MH (12000K)... second pix under 10 x 54W T5... yes lighting may affect the colouration a little... but the difference on the specimen itself is quite obvious... the base is more white in the first pix... a little brown in the second pix... is it normal for SPS to have white base?

A local brand SKIMZ pioneering in producing cost effective FRs :D

Dubbed the TWIN-TURBO by me (my set was the first of its kind... new generation)... been running it since the beginning right after I introduced the rocks... PO4 is still somehow detectable (not entirely zero... but in the lower region of < 0.03ppm) as I suspect my Indo rocks are still leaching

So I went back to SKIMZ and custom-made a 4ft tall FR :D Still testing out suitable flow rate... hence the messy piping and temporary location :p

Intend to put in 1000g PO4 removal media... to avoid upsetting my SPS... will add 250g every 2 days :)

1000l/hr is way too low a flow... 3000l/hr too high... will get an Aquabee UP 2000 (15W) to do the job ;)

do you still need a chiller with T5 lighting. One of the reasons I am not going with MH again is to much heat and electricity.I know in an 8 ft tank I will need alot of bulbs

Yes... even without lighting... over here in Singapore our room temperature ranges from 32ºC to 26ºC... it will be impossible to attempt a tank full of corals without a reliable chiller :( My Arctica 1/3hp chiller draws almost 600W
