Jebao DCP return pump?

I had DCP 15000 and with 3/4 pvc pipe. going about 10ft up and 6 ft over. I could only get a trickle out of my return at the tank with pump going 100%. I returned it. I assume my pipe is too small and restricting all flow.
Im considering getting the DCP 18000 and changing my return to my tank to
1 1/4 in pvc or 1 1/2 in.
Any help is appreciated on this one.

If you would have done 1 1/4" you would have had a small river.

Here is the trick I learned, large a pipe as possible, when you can use a heat gun and bend the pipe instead of elbows or 90's

I had 1" and 9' with unions and 90's and T's and had to run at 100% to get 600-700 gph

I used the heat gun and all 1 1/4" pipe and was able to turn the pump down to 75% or 57W to get the same exact flow.

So yes, pipe size makes a huge difference here.
 
Looking for the size of this thread on a dcp 18000.

Appreciate it comes with fittings, but hoping to get as close 2" straight from the pump, rather than start with 1.5"

hi, DCP8000 sufficient for 180g 6Ft tank? using 1inch pvc piping.

not sure to apply single or dual return on a single pump yet.

The pump should be large enough for a 180 but you will likely be restricted to about 600-700 gph with 1" return piping. I would recommend at least 1-1/4" with two 1" returns if you want more than 4X flow.
 
Need an opinion on what size DCP to go with for a 29 gal with 10 gal. sump (5 gal refrugium) with 10x flow. I also want to be able to run media reactors so I have a 3 port manifold on the return along with 1" to a tee with two 3/4" returns @ 3' head height. I'm was looking at the 5000 Lph but think that might be too much even at 65%?
 
I'm using a 5000 on my 40 breeder. I run the pump just under 50% with a head height of 5'. I'm getting 389 gph. The nice thing with a DC pump is being able to turn it down and if you want to slow it even further you can use a ball valve. Either way you have a good pump if you ever want to get a larger tank.
 
Wow. Ok If you're getting close to 400 gph @ 50% with 2 ft. more head height with the 5000, then the 4000 should be more than enough. Getting a bigger tank probably isn't an option as my space is limited and the smaller size of the 4000 will help with the my sump layout. Thanks for the info.:thumbsup:
 
Just bought a 6500, replacing my return pump and 2 MJ 1200's. The MJ1200's are throttled down half way so it's a waste of wattage. replacing 115W with 55W so I need to to last at least 9 months to pay for itself in electricity.

by the way the DCP 6500 is marked down to $60.20 on amazon. Cheaper than the 5000 and the 3000. hopefully it's the real deal.
 
would the 6500 work for me. i was going ro get a eheim 1262. i have an older wet dry sump and the fitting that goes to thw pump is 3/4" the eheim is 1". is the part that goes from the sump to pump 3/4" or is that the bigger fitting. thanks
 
guess what im asking is the inlet on the pump 3/4" so i could just use a 3/4" barb to connect tubing from my sump to the pump inlet?

Thats what I plan on doing. The pump is supposed to be here monday. I'll let you know.

I think the pump has slip fittings, so you would need to go slip to Barb to tubing

read on a post on this thread earlier that they come with barbed fittings now. just need to know if i can use 3/4" for my inlet and 1" return. Also can these be ran externally?

guys , which model would be good for 112 gallons total? tank is 88 gallons. it's red sea xl 425.

Pump size and tank volume have no direct correlation. The size should be determined by head pressure you are seeking which takes into account the travel distance, pipe diameter, elbows (45/90 degree), and vertical vs horizontal.

If you plan on placing this pump in a sump right beneath the aquarium the DCT8000 would be plenty. Depend on how much flow you can get through the down pipe into the sump. Again size, travel distance, elbows come into play here as well.
 
Wow, I can't speak for long term reliability but this pump has some cajones. I replaced my Eheim compact 2000 which isn't a very powerfull pump but I'm running the 6500 at 35% and it's basically equal flow.

I'm going to make a manafold and replace 2 mj1200's and probably end up at 50%. That's saving like 65 watts and it's dead silent.

That's $65 a year in energy savings give or take. So far pretty happy with my $60 pump

How do you figure? You are not going to get the same output from the 6500 at 50%.
 
I have the mj's throttled back to less than half so it's really a waste. One runs a gfo reactor and the other feeds a chaeto reactor. I may end up at 60 or more percent but still happy
