Jebao Dosing pump thread.

@Frag Guy-

My pump heads are installed like picture "B" in the links. The circular plastic piece with the three spindles that the cylinders sit on was in first, with the cylinders on top when I took it a part.

I re-installed them this way, and so far-so good. I think the problem for me was that I had pulled the tube through the pump heads (I had seen a youtube video that suggested doing this) and I think in the process, I had pulled too much, which did't allow the rollers to pinch the tubing.

I swiched mine to like the picture A and its used to spin and stop and it spins perfectly :)

All of the other 3 are still like B going to switch im thinking that the rollers angle a bit so they don't pinch the tube well.

I also just had to switch mine from "B" to "A". They were seemingly dosing fine but one of them was dripping constantly (1/3 gallon a day). I flipped them around and I think it stopped. I'll know by tomorrow! *holds breathe*

Thanks for posting your findings after switching the roller heads. It helps to confirm that this may be the proper way to assemble the pump heads.

So far the three problems that I'm aware off (continues dripping, back siphoning and the rollers slipping which causes under dosing) seem to be corrected by switching the position of the roller heads.

Given that we have pumps across different states assembled like mine was, it is starting to look like this is not a one off assembly problem like I first thought and it may be that many more if not all are assembled improperly.

Keep your posts coming we need more results to confirm this.

Has anyone tied using an airline check valve like the blue ones that come with the Aqua Medic dosers to resolve the drainig/dripping problems? I have them on my current Aqua Medic triple doser and they work great. The only problem with my doser is replacing the tubing which is so expensive and part of the reason I was looking at this doser.

Why not just flip the roller ? Instead of buying more things there should be no reason to add check valves.

I agree with toky916. The design of these pump heads should prevent dripping or back siphoning. There should be no need to use any check valves. The tubing should be pinched shut once the rollers stop spinning.

In any event, a check valve would only fix a back siphon problem not the dripping problem.

I purchased one through a group buy, and long story short, I ended up having to send the unit back (to China). Months went by and the package never arrived, allegedly, so I started looking elsewhere for my dosing needs. I found a litermeter 3 and one slave for 200 bucks.

Needless to say I am so fricking glad that I ended up with something else. As a sps freak, alk management is probably one of the most important part of my husbandry and after reading everything out there, I never would've been able to relax knowing I had a questionable 80 dollar doser keeping my collection in peak condition. I think this is a great doser for maybe some supplements or foods, carbon source, etc. But honestly, I would have a difficult time maintaining alk and calcium with this thing.

Just my experience and 2 cents of unsolicited info lol

SWK, can you tell us what specific problem(s) you had with the doser?

All but one if the heads dosed 7-15% higher than programmed. According to the vendor, the board was bad and needed to be replaced. Instead of just sending me a new board, the required me to send the whole unit back to China....

swk,
Did you try calibrating again to see if the accuracy improved?
How many mls are you dosing?

Calibrated many times to eliminate user error. I was dosing 100ml on all heads as I was doing test runs before I hooked it up to the tank.

Your issue seems to be different than what others have reported. Unless, the doser continued to drip after dosing had stopped. In that case you would get an overdose and flipping the rollers might have helped like it seems to be helping others that have dripping issues.

I flipped the heads on all four of my pumps. It appears to have improved the pumps performance, but I am still getting a little air in the lines on pumps 1, 3 and 4 on the discharge side of the pump. I am going to try replacing all airline and see if that makes a difference.

I am nearing the point where I call my dealer for a warranty replacement.

Are you saying that the discharge end is draining after the pump stops dosing? Or that you see air bubbles go by during dosing?

So it's been a few since I swiched it and good news and im happy so are the corals. No air no drips nothing just doseing the amount it should now I can say the product is good.

Good to know that your doser is working better now.
Mine also continues to work spot on after the change.
