Jebao WP25 Information

Just bought one of these and initially quite impressed. I worry a little about the pump 'shaking' itself out of the holder - which is a bit flimsy, and doesn't clamp the pump all that tightly - but it does move a lot of water. OK, it's not a vortech in terms of build quality or features, but it also isn't vortech priced either. Will see how the 25 holds up over time, but for now it works well.

I've never heard of this happening, so you would be the first AFAIK.

Would two WP25s be good for a 75g? I was thinking of getting two Tunze 6095s but doing some research in the jebao it seems the tunzes may not be worth the price difference. So two wp25?

to be honest I am still a huge fan of tunze's, I have been running 2 older 6000's for 8+ years and they have worked flawlessly.

I do run 2 wp25's in my 75 gal. tank right now to try and will say they work very well but seems like I have to clean them very often (every 2 weeks) or they will stop running. my tunze's would go 6+ month's before I even thought about cleaning them.

so other then the cleaning part they have worked good.

Is that common to what others are having to do with their WPs as well? I certainly dont want to be HAVING to clean them on a bi-weekly basis

Placement of (2) WP25's in 65 gallon reef tank

Hi all,

New to RC and this is my first post.

I currently am in the process of setting-up a 65 gallon saltwater tank that will have a reef emphasis.

I have 2 WP25's and a Reef Octopus Diablo DC-3500 return pump.

Does anyone out there have a 65 gallon tank (36wX24hX18d) this size with 1 or more WP25's?

And, where do you have them positioned, and on what settings?

Thanks for replies in advance!!!

I have a 65 with 2 WP25s. I have them positioned centered on the side walls about 5-6 inches down from the top. I have them both set on W1/S1 mode most of the times. Some days I change the speeds to mix things up. Some days I put one on ELSE mode. I am getting good flow around the tank and the corals look very happy. ELSE mode can be pretty powerful though in a 65 and I have had a couple of corals blown out of their holes so be careful. Overall I really like the WP 25s and you can't beat the price.

Anyone have a problem with these creating a vortex and creating microbubbles? I have had mine for a few months and I can't get rid of them. I have tried else mode and H1, all on S3 and they are down over 12 inches in my tank and they still do it. My tank is 24 inches deep, but I don't want to put them on my sandbed....it wouldn't work for my aquascape anyways.

How big is your tank? They would only created a vortex like that if the tank was tiny or if you had them close to the surface of the water.

Try the W1 at S2 or S3. My 25 is 4-5" below the water line with no air being sucked. I use W1 on s1 and no vortex created.

Thought I would post my experiences with the WP25's as well. For the record, I'm slightly still in favor of them. Bought my first one in August from Fish Street. Liked it so much that I bought another a month later. Replaced three Koralia's with the 2 WP25's and the tank seemed to love the flow. I keep both in Else mode, and usually alternate and set one or the other on W1 S1 over the weekend for a little variety. Last Friday, set the left one (the one originally purchased in August) to wave mode before going to sleep. Woke up the next morning and noticed no wave action happening. Checked the pump, cycled power a few times, removed to clean, but still no go. Swapped controllers, and it was definitely the pump itself that died (it was pretty warm when I removed to clean). To their credit, Fish Street agreed to ship a replacement for $10 shipping, so it's now on the way.

I had hoped to get more than 3 months out of a pump, so time will tell how much of a bargain these really are. I was absolutely sold on these at first, considerably less sold on them now. We'll see in 6 months or so how much of a bargain they really are.

I hate the looks of a powerhead in my DT so I'm thinking about giving the WP25 a shot do to their small profile it should be easier to hide. Could someone please tell me the size of the WP25? I can't seem to find the measurements looking for length and O/D. Thanks

Do u think one 25 would be fine for my 60 cube 24x24x24? Going to have lps and softies.

I would say yes... I have a WP25 and a Tunze 6055, but I also have a highly stocked custom 60g with lot of SPS. For LPS and softies it would probably be just fine.
