Jebo 520 skimmer thread.

They are listed as having needle wheel pumps, and some are already set up to run as recirc right out of the box.. These things look like great deltec knockoffs!!!

I was browsing around the rest of the site.. Looks like some great stuff on there.. I would love to see some prices... Anybody have a clue where you can get that stuff at in the US?? I emailed him for more info.........

When and where can I get one I need to Know man dont hold back the info. LOL They do look like euroreef knockoffs. What does it matter if they work. Wonder who will be the first US supplier.

Prices are going to be key, but the quality from the pictures does look pretty good.... I think the guy has his own line of pumps also, from what I can gather from the website... I am waiting for him to get back to me.. i will post any info that i receive... If I receive any....

I finally got my Genx 2400 pump and started playing with a way to use them together. I cant just run a hose from the pump outlet to the skimmer with no problems like most people should . I have size limitations without a sump modification.

SO I ended up with this design that I will use once I get some "uniseals"

Here's the design so far. It will end up being a small "bubble king" type skimmer that recirculates

1.The pump will use the supplied venturi and be mounted with the inlet, venturi, facing down connected to the outlet that has an opening faceing up(not the regular outlet comeing out the side of the skimmer base)

2. The pump will be strapped to the side of the tube with 2 long zip ties that use the rubber suction holes on the pump and keep the ties from slideing around.

3. A hole in the side of the main tube and the inner tube will allow a outlet tube of water into the skimmer. On the inside of the inner tube I will use a 90 degree fitting to send the water downward.

4. At the bottom of the inner tube in the black plastic area towards the bottom I wil make 4 to 8 1/4 inch holes to let water into the bottom drain area and onto the exit tube.

5. At the bottom of the inner tube just above the level of the hole for the tube inlet in the black plastic area I will place a plactic disk and seal this area from the upper part of the inner tube. I will use silicone so I can easily remove it and make modifications if neccessary.

6. To let water into the skimmer I have two chices. The first is to use the fitting at the top of the skimmer and run a tube to an area near the recirculating inlet. The second is to drill a hole and place a fitting fo inlet water near the same area.

Other things to do is pace a cap on the inlet for the venturi and remove the venturi that comes with the unit.
I did run the skimmmer in fresh water and kind of like leaving the hole at the top of the skimmer cap open. I think this will prevent overflows when the skimmer goes crazy.

i just got a 520 today. aquatraders is out of them but i went to my lfs and they had one and i told him what aquatraders was selling them for and he gave it to me for $30. that was the finals price on them at aquatraders. they are recommending a oddessy pump that does 700 gph. is this enough or too much?

heck of a deal for such a good skimmer.

thakns for the help.

Well made a lot of progress with mine so far:

1. Removed riser tube
2. Cut riser tube mount out of bottom of the skimmer
3. Plugged the original ventrui input with a 3/4" ball valve (now my drain valve. I might also add that 3/4" pvc fits in this perfectly)
4. Drilled my holes for the Sedra 5000 for recirulation
5. Since my skimmer cup did not come with the riser tube I picked up a piece of 2.5" tube to install - I used my dremel to cut the lip back to the base of the cup and glued it to the base of the skimmer cup.
6. Heated up the output and streached it to fit 1" plumbing - now I can plumb it straight in without any issues.
7. Building riser platform for Sedra to rest on (wasn't high enough up and ran into the base of the skimmer for the holes)

I should have pic's very soon.

I'm designing mine to fit in a 10"x15" space (this was the smallest I could get it with my configuration) I will be making a custom sump to put this in very soon.

I think that's a JEBO 182 skimmer and no way is that thing large enough for 150 gallon tanks. I wouldn't use it on anything larger than 55 gallon to be honest. The body also looks to be too small for much DIY unless you were to enlarge it yourself. If you were to dorp a needle wheel pump on that it should work pretty good for a smaller tank though.

The eBay ad is kinda iffy especially with the added "FOR MARINE AND FRESHWATER" Which shows the seller as not knowing anything about protein skimmers. You CAN'T run a protein skimmer in freshwater.

I am still waiting on my uniseals but tossed the 520 in the sump with the Genx2400. I am running it backwards though....the input flow comes in the normal exhaust tube, up the skimmer and down the center tube then out.
I know it weird but that is the only way to put it in my sump. I couldnt look at it on the counter any longer. It seems to run nicely but looks like its still breaking in.
