Jebo 520 skimmer thread.

Does anyone know anything about the Jebo 150, it has a 650 gph powerhead with it. I know everyone is bragging about the 520 I was wondering if anyone had the 150 Or can tell me about it?

I finally put my 520 with the gen x nw in my sump today and all I am getting is some swirling water. I used the venturi that looks like a cap and has a fitting for an air line in the middle. Anybody have any suggestions on how to get any bubbles?

Sorry dont' know what you mean there. I'm looking at the Gen X 4100 NW pump instead of the Sedra 9000. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

I cant seem to get any bubble out of the venturi. I tried both of them that come with the pump and neither of them work. Will it make a differance if the skimmer is submerged in about 8 inches of water in the sump? Would it help anything if I raised it up some? Or did I just waste money on a crappy pump and going to have to buy a new one?

I have had truoble with needle wheel pumps that are under to much water to pull in the air. Raise the pump so that there is less head preasure on the pump.

If all ese fais try an air pump on the venturi air line.

i am just setting upmy 520 now it has been sitting waiting for it's new 90 gallon. i put it in the bath tub and filled it up to see how good the bubbles where and didn't get very good bubbles. they are large sized bubbles too, not like the small bubbles in some of the pics. i am using the gen-x pump that puts out some where around 500 gph. should i get a larger pump or will it do bettter then that in salt water. but also i don't want it to look like a water hose shooting out of the exit tube.

thanks for the help.

Quick update on the Jebo 520. I ordered a Coralife Super Luft Pump SL-65 ( 65 lpm air output ) and used the little air fitting that is in the riser to attach the airline. I made a "y" adapter and ran two lines to the bottom of the skimmer. There I attached two of the Coralife 3" limewood airstones ( I tried using one but it was to much air for it ). I'm not sure exactly how much air I am now getting into this skimmer but I estimate it should be around 80 lpm when you add the input from the Sedra 9000 NW with the airstones.

I just got the second airstone added this morning. I had to drop the water level about 3 inches to even get a wet skim that wasn't mostly water. I may have to drop it more. I'm certain it will be an improvement, not that it wasn't working great before. I think it will compare to my old beckett and maybe better. I'll try to get some pics tonight. The air pump is great and only uses 35 watts.

Had a busy day ( picked up a 2002 Dakota with 5.9L Magnum damn is this truck nice! ) so the pic is a bit late but here it is.

About a days worth. Not to shabby!

Yeah, now I know why so many people still swear by airstone skimmers. With a large air pump and the right stone/stones it is incredible! I wonder how often I will need to replace the stones though.

Has anyone Mod the PS75? I have one on my 15gal nano as a hang on, and the pump it came with is way to powerfull.. But what I was wanting to do is hookup a GenX as a recirc. mod and push the skimmer with a small Maxi jet.

Any one tried this? if so any pics?

I found the perfect plastic tube to go inside the collection cup for those who dont have it.

At ALDI'S food store get the diet drink mix that comes in a platic tube. The tube goes right around the inner ring on the bottom inside of the collection cup. Its about a inch to long but should be easy to trim.

P.S. The Raspberry flovor is awsome and has no calories. Also is good with vodka on ice.

One swig of vodka for my tank and 2 for me

A bit OT but I recently started dosing some vodka to the tank and my water has never been clearer. Had anyone tried this?
