Alright, things have been a little quiet, and I admit, I've been lazy.:bum: Oh, and I've had to work a lot with my schedule being pretty well screwed by my wifes new job.
I'm still waiting for my Velocity T4 to show up so I can swap it out with the Wahoo, and I can't put any corals in until my reflectors show up anyhow. I have also been trying to find the sweet spot on the skimmer. It seems I'm either skimming to dry, causing the dry skimmate to bubble out the air holes, or the skimmer overflows. I adjusted the wedge valve last night, seemingly a tiny adjustment, only to wake up this morning to a puddle on the garage floor.
I am glad it's out there and not in the house, or my cajones would've been in a ringer!:eek2: To top it off, while cleaning up the mess, I apparently scared the crap out of my Rhomboid and he shot up through the only potential opening in the cover and fell behind the frag tank. A very tense minute of me acting like a contortionist, climbing over the sump and reaching behind everything, I managed to get ahold of him, toss him back in the tank, only to have him get stuck up against the Vortech. I unplugged it, moved the wet end and freed his @$$.
Anyhow, enough drama for one morning. I got my shipment of snails, crabs, and grunge from GARF and added those to the tank. All tests are showing normal, and I've still got 9 of the 10 chromis that I put in. I knew the 10th wouldn't make it as he didn't look so hot when he went in.
I've also got the light mounted above the fuge, but want to do some final modifications to the setup before I'm done with it. It is lighting the fuge nicely, even with only 2 of the 4 bulbs running.
Let's see, what else? Oh, I'm designing a bubble trap box for the fuge return. I tried a simple 5g tank in the sump for that line to drain into, but only minimal success in getting rid of the microbubbles. Here's the current plan:
Both the fuge return and skimmer return will flow into this box on the right. The water will be forced over the baffle and exit the 3 slots cut out near the bottom. Then I'll have a lid that covers the box, with the exception of where the pipes enter. This should get rid of any microbubbles, salt spray, and noise coming from the return drains.
I also plan on having a pair of acrylic covers made to fit over the top of the fuge to keep the insects out of that tank. Yes, it's a minor irritation at the moment.
