JF Beach Bum help!

Frag It

New member
Anybody have experience with JF Beach Bum monti? I purchased a nice frag at Fraggenstein swap. It's bleaching out, not dead because I can still see blue polyp extension. If you're familiar with it you know it's not cheap. I'd hate to lose it.
I'm assuming it's not in the correct lighting area or something. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not familiar with bb in specific, but usually either alkalinity or calcium were/are off or changed too fast or lighting is too bright. In the wild, usually temperature is too high, but I haven't seen this in my tank.

I'd move it to lower light regardles and test calcium and especially alkalinity. If your water is off, fixing it too quickly could do more harm than good.

Ok thank you. I appreciate the feed back. Might just sell it to someone that wants to nurse it back. I honestly don't have time to mess with water chemistry. It's only a 10 gallon nano with maybe 6 gallons of water because of rock and sand water displacement. I rely on my weekly water change to keep everything in check.

If you are doing the water changes then it is probably lighting. Did you accumulate it when you put it in the tank?
I just looked at Jason fox’s website, that is an expensive coral.

What kind of lighting do you have it under vs. what kind of lighting did it come from? I found out the hard way that improper light acclimation from T5 to LED is a great way to bleach a montipora and fast. So like brad said, move it down and see if that does'nt put some color back in its cheeks.
