John guest fittings

That is a john guest style fitting.. (on one end)..
Home depot has a bunch of them in the plumbing section.. Usually in the area with the smaller brass fittings,etc.. hanging on bags/pegboard :)
 
www.savko.com and www.usplastic.com has them in every size and configuration you will need for your aquarium. Savko is local to me - I went there looking for what I though for sure was impossible - female threads on one end of a swivel 90 to 1/2 JG on the other. Took the dude like 15 seconds to come back with it. I bought a couple extras just because....

Only thing local, unless you are really lucky, will be chinese knockoffs of JG fittings (such as you find at home depot.) If you want the quality, rather than the ambiguous "no issues" reponse, you will probably have to pay the piper. The aquarium hobby is by nature insane. I wish the most expensive part of it was exchange, shipping, and duty. A triviality in reality.

Living in Canada i have found buying on line in US gets crazy ! A few years ago i bought a grill rack for one of my smokers ! it was $90.00 plus shipping then all the good stuff it worked to be $190 Canadian i sucked it up and bought it as i wanted it and us was only place for it . UPS made three attempts before i was
home and kept coming at a different time specified ,finally met UPS and more
duty was due an extra 60 in duties where due or no grill . i paid and left alone , this is one example of buying from Canada .So with numerous experiences i always try to find local or in Canada ,

Anyways enough of my rant ! back to my thread ! i found some here !

I was just about to point you to them (Reef Supplies). Also google Pets and Ponds for another good online Canadian supplier (for general aquarium supplies). J&L Aquatics is also another source of reasonable supplies. Pretty much anybody *but* Bulk Reef Supplies.

Another way to buy online for Canadians, if you live close to the border, is to use a U.S based package service. There are plenty of them around NiagraFalls NY, that will act as a mailing address for a small fee (E.g. $2.95). Then you just drive to the package service, pick up your package and drive it back over the border. You still need to pay HST, but you are able to take advantage of free shipping that most U.S online sites offer, and you avoid the extra brokerage fees you get nailed with if you order through sites like BRS.

Do you not have local plumbing/hardware/home improvement stores in Canada?
They will have them..

The "John Guest" brand does not matter...

Yes we have home improvement stores here . I did find some John guest fittings at an appliance store but they were all 5/16 .

I did find some quick connect fittings , but we're not John guest but we're of John guest style . Was mentioned earlier that knock offs weren't as good ! However i feel they should suffice and work . Thanks for responding

Take uncles answers with a grain of salt and in moderation..
He tends to go a bit crazy/strict/my way or the highway with his answers in his old grumpy age :lolspin:
The "knockoffs" in general are all just fine.. Even more so for your application.. watts is a well known brand,etc..
I've used other brands for years now under 150PSI airlines,etc.. without any issues.. Never had a single failure..

Heck you could even just drill a hole and silicone the tube in place for what you are doing..

The ones at your local store are just fine... Pick one up and move on..

Thanks will do ! Found some other watts ones without calling and 3/8 npt and 1/4 out ! Will move on ! Lol
 
Thanks GlassReef. Those are a good deal. They appear to be the ones Aquamaxx use with their reef equipment.
