jrpdriver's Three-o-Three build

Well, I didn't take too many pictures yet because I havn't cleaned up all the wires and other messes, but here's a few for now.

Pictures of my new skimmer by itself weren't doing it justice, so here is a picture of it next to an Octopus Pro 300

Here it is installed

Here is the plumbing off of the return pump that I redid, I got rid of most of the 45's and 90's and used pvc flex hose, I had the flex hose all along but I was nervous about using it because it didn't fit as tight in the pipe fittings, but after talking to a few people I realized it would be fine so I swapper it out

and here is the probe section all finished

Got quite a bit more finished this weekend. I got my controller half-way programmed, still waiting on some equipment before I can finish. Got the wires cleaned up, finished the trim on the stand and some other misc stuff

My wife found these great flexible flashlight holders that have a magnet on one end. I cut the part the clips to the flashlight off, rivited the tube to a piece of aluminum and mounted the aluminum to the back of the controller. I can stick the magnets to any part of my stand and I can swivel the contoroller around to make it easier when programing

and here's a shot with the wires all cleaned up

Here is the almost finished enclosure, still need to make the shelves...that is a temporary light fixture up there, you won't be able to see the Constellation fixtures over the stand

we even sanded and stained my Tiger Shark magnet to match

Very nice. I like the nicely organized wires and did the same on my system. Keep in mind that you will have to replace those probes and a regular basis, so don't make those particular wires too difficult to get to and replace.

Thank you. yes I have had to change probes on my previous systems so it was something I considered, all it takes is clipping a couple of zipties. I originally thought about running all the wires through the grey pvc but that would have been a big hassle when changing probes.

I have never had a problem running the probes in-line, but...I have never run a conductivity probe before either. My flow meter showed up the other day, once I got it inline I realized I had the flow into the protein skimmer about half of where it should be, once I turned up the flow all the other probes were still fine but the conductivity probe registered zero. So back to the plumbing, I ended up running a second feed off of the return, one for the skimmer and one for the probes, and since I had the media reactor anyway I put it inline after the probes, in case I ever want to run phosphate remover or a large amount of carbon in an emergency.

Here is a shot of the flow meter and new feed lines

and here is a close up of the flow meter, it uses a little paddle to register flow in gpm

Here's the ball valves for the skimmer and media reactor feed, I'm going to redo this also but this is how it is hooked up for now...I got tired of working on it last night

ballvalves.jpg

I got most of the reactor plumbed, I was going to run ball valves like the other reactor but this reactor wasn't built correctly so I had to go without. I put black vinyl around the back of the chambers to keep the light from the refuge out

Here is the media reactor

and here are the silencers I made for the air intakes on the skimmer, nothing fancy just some pvc stuffed with cotton

Very Nice work.....

Where did you purchase your "Blue White Industries" flow meter?

I have found some items on their website that I'm interested in but can't seem to find anywhere to order them from or get prices.

A couple equipment shots, please ignore all the loose wires

This is my ATO system. The bucket is fed from my ro/di in the laundry room, there are two pumps in the bucket. I have my controller set so if the ph is lower than 8.3 the pump that runs through the kalk reactor comes on, if the ph is above 8.3 the pump that pushes fresh water only turns on

This bucket is for magnesium dosing, the aqualifter turns on for a minute, twice a day
