July 2010 Tank of the Month

Congratulations on totm, you have a great tank! I love that red acropora millie with the white polyps. That thing is stunning! Whats the history on that piece?
My other question for you is what is the placement of your 4-Vortechs?
Thanks.

Thanks ryshark. The red acro is the ORA Rose millie. I got it years ago as a small frag. It's a great grower and always has great polyp extension.

I have 2 vortechs at each end of the tank. I have 2 placed as high as I can get them without them sucking air. The other 2 are placed are about 8 inches off the top. I will post a picture tomorrow to show their placement. I run them all on reef crest mode.

Beatiful tank! I am still in the planning stages of mine. Do you have any updated sump shots with equipent and all? -Thanks

Thanks jvbeattie. The sump is pretty simple. The left side is the refugium. I've tried macroalgae, but never had much luck with it so now just have live rock in there. The middle section is the return area, and the right side is the skimmer area.

Great looking tank, I think I like the fact you have everything under the tank the most (aside from the beautiful livestock :p). Bio-Reef and CoraLogic? Maybe I will run into you one day :)

Do you frequent Jax? We are blessed with the most amazing stores. Have you been to one of our reef meetings?

Audrey you should also post some pics of your great softie tank/ Even though I have only seen pics every time I do makes me want to setup another tank LOL.

Anyways would you please get us some pics of that tank at least for my satisfaction----- great aquascape and thought process.

BTW again congrats on a long time coming TOTM- I'm sure after the community sees your mixed reef they will certainly make that one a TOTM. I hope its still up and running

Sadly that tank was dismantled after we were flooded by Hurricane Fay. I miss it. Maybe one day my school tank will compare.

Congrats on TOTM, it is well deserved! I have been watching your tank on TRT and it has always been my favorite, it is so full of coral.

Congrats Audrey! The pictures look great! but this tank is 10x better in person. It's certainly what we all strive for, and an absolute work of art! Congrats again!

Congratulations on TOTM, well deserved! A gorgeous tank and great aquascaping.
I feel strongly about your passion looking at your tanks - sorry to hear about dismantling the softie one due to the hurricane.
