Jump? How high?

I have a gap in my canopy along the back, 9.5 inches. Do I need to put egg crate across the whole thing or is 6 inches enough. How high do Gobis and clowns and other possibles jump. We are not talking an arriwana..... (thats probably spelled wrong but I am too tired to look it up). What does everyone think?

depends on the fish - but i've even seen flame angels get spooked and jump. So best to do it all.

Oh and putting egg crate for an arrowana isn't going to help.

For sure on the arrowana the last one I had 8 years ago was 18 inches long. I think I will just cover the whole back for my reef.

Cover the whole thing, and dont miss a spot. You would be surprised how many people say "i had the whole dang thing covered, but it still got out this little spot near my ______".

Egg crate will keep an 18 inch fish it but it won't keep small fish like firefish, gobies, jawfish, wrasses in the tank.

snorvich: I imagine you'd have to weigh the egg-crate down with something or implement some kind of locking mechanism. An eighteen inch fish could knock the egg-crate off pretty easily otherwise.

look into a mesh top. If there is a space, ceretain fish will find a way out
