I have been keeping fish for as long as I can remember as I share the fish bug with my dad. He taught me how to set up tanks and a ton on scaping for realism. We were into freshwater and I grew into pretty intensive planted tanks until I bought my house. My dad had switched to FOWLR by this time and our family friend opened his own LFS focusing on coral. I was hooked seeing all the colors and made the switch myself. Just like with motorcycle racing I jumped in head first. I started with a biocube 29 to get my feet wet. I quickly outgrew that and am now onto a 150 gallon. The greatest things about this hobby are the people and the ever going quest to learn and adapt.
Those items are why I joined Reefcentral and use it as my go to site. I am on nearly daily and have made plenty of friendships from this board. When I started people like GCarroll and Sk8r were of great value as I looked for basic information on cycle, pests, testing, and the like. Those 2 got me going in the right direction. Within the nano realm, others like Homer and ReefWreak have been great to bounce ideas off of as we all were going through much of the same pains with our nanos. When looking to move to my 150 and planning it out others like D2Mini were instrumental in giving equipment advice, plumbing help, or just a general vote of confidence in my decision.
I am a huge proponent in giving back so as others have helped me I try to give back as much as I can to help others. Anything from failures I have with my tank, testing of new equipment, video walkthroughs, or just being an ear for others to bounce ideas off of. I am glad to have found Reef Central which gives me the platform to do so while also learning and am very honored to be selected for ROTM.
