Just another SPS tank

Awesome! Thank you! I also have a peninsula tank and just picked up two Tunze 6105s and have been trying to figure out how to put them. I am controlling mine with an Apex though. If you ever decide to sell some of your frags, let me know!

Unfortunately I have no clue how to ship corals across the border.. Sorry :-(

Herbie to BeanAnimal Overflow Conversion

Herbie to BeanAnimal Overflow Conversion

So recently I have been reading a lot about this "BeanAnimal" overflow that's supposed to be the Bee's Knees. Currently on my tank I employ the Herbie overflow which has worked out quite well. However, I do like to keep current whenever feasible. Plus, I'm not typically the type to knock something unless I myself have tried it. So, I set out to see what all the hype was about with this "Bean Animal" overflow by attempting to convert my Herbie to the "Bean Animal".

First off, I have to say that this was probably one of the easier DIY projects that I have every done on the tank. Possibly the most fun as well. It went so smoothly that I didn't even have much down time to document the various steps (sorry; if you would like detailed instructions feel free to PM me!).

Here is the final result.

For comparison sake here's what the old boring Herbie overflow looks like.

And her is the new "Bean Animal" overflow.

Conclusion:

I have to say, WOW!! What a difference this conversion made. Not only does the "Bean Animal" overflow liven up an otherwise boring Herbie/Durso/Stockman but man is this thing quiet. Dead quiet! My Herbie overflow was pretty quiet, but the "Bean Animal" has managed to surpass it in quietness. All overflow noise has been COMPLETELY muffled out. Truly AMAZING! Also, the "Bean Animal" overflow is truly set and forget. Once I set it up there was no further adjustment required. The "Bean Animal" overflow gets two thumbs up and my seal of approval. I will highly recommend it to anyone building a new tank in the future or anyone wanting to update their existing non-"Bean Animal" overflow.

Great Job Kien.....amazing picture quality too.

Thanks. Ya my pink Lem isn't all that pink. Mostly green :-|
Well the body is generally yellow in high light but can go mustard yellow or even green in lower light. Also in higher light the polyps will turn pink. Maybe try moving it up if you want more yellow and pink? The growth seems great though.

Thanks everyone!

Ya, I think I'm going to take a frag off of this colony and try mounting it higher to see what happens. Mind you it is pretty high up already, about 6" from the water surface right under a 250 watt halide showering with radiative goodness :-)

Very nice growth and colors, waiting on a couple full tank shots, please.

What kind of camera did you use?

I'll typically use my canon 40D or 5D mark II. I think some of these are with the 5D2 while others may be with the 40D, can't remember exactly. My lens of choice (which is more important than the camera body), is the 24-105mm F4.

when these photos are taken what light setting are you on? only t5's? full power?

Mid day full power. 250watt 15K Phoenix with 22K T5 supplements.
