Wow you leave your DSLR in your truck overnight?!

X2, What happens if they steal the truck with the camera in it next time???? Might as well walk out in front of a bus!!!!!!

Ya it was really stupid. I think I left the doors unlocked. The cops said these guys were going around to open cars in the neighborhood and taking everything. They hit the jackpot with my denali. Dvds, slr, tripod, my signed paycheck! Man I'm stupid. I never leave the truck outside unlocked or with things in it. The stars just aligned last night. I'm thinking XT1 or 40D now.

Does your home/auto insurance policy cover the stolen goods? Would be a good time to call your agent and ask.

Also, be careful how you discuss it with them. Some policies won't cover you if the car was unlocked.

Just an update...
This happened on Sunday morning at 1am and I already have a check in the mail for my lost items. Nationwide has been outstanding!

Im gonna get the 50D.

I have tried both and the 17-85 is definitely the sharper lens. If you are a on a budget, you might want to go with a cheaper camera like the XSi or T1i when it comes out and get yourself a better lens. The lens is much more important than the body when it comes to photo quality.

PLus if you got used to or like the size, shape, and feel of the XTi, you might want to stick to the Rebel series.

Im a total noob.
Should I get the 17-85mm lens, or the 28-135mm lens for everyday shooting.

I have an unnatural, and probably unhealthy, hate for the 28-135; avoid it at all costs. :)

Two weeks ago same thing happened on my street, 6 cars including mine were broken into and they made off with my camera. I always leave my truck unlocked bad habit. I have AAA insurance car and home and they covered all my losses and received my check today.

I have been looking at upgrading to either the nikon d90 or the d50.

Ahhh so all these people who habitually don't use simple things like locks and seatbealts are why I pay so much for insurance. It's starting to come together.

The other cars that were broken into had windows and door lock broken also, my way of looking at this is if they want it there going to take no matter what you do. I just dont normally leave anything of value in my truck to take.
