Just ordered an H. Mag!

So it's been 4 hours now since I did another 100% WC & 250mgs of Cipro, here is an update photo. Should I do another 100% WC and 250mgs of cipro before I go to bed tonight? I won't be able to work on my tank tomorrow until the afternoon as the work week is starting back up.

Well I sure hope he pulls through too, the good thing is, you got it from LA DD. I would email ASAP and tell them what's going on. They have the 14 day garentee. You'll get a full credit. If the tank is real cloudy tonight, and your not gonna be around tomorrow, I would do a 100% WC and dose 500mg. If it's not to cloudy and you can be there tomorrow evening, just do WC and 500mg tomorrow. Keep flow going. Don't feed it or move it.
 
New QT I'm working on. This will be a stacked (3) 5/G setup specifically for Nems.





That brute is going in the garage and my new ATO reservior will be here in 2 weeks. So the QT setup will be pushed further back in that corner.

Do you have any other antibiotics on hand?

Also, get in touch with live aquaria today and let them know what's going on. They will issue you a credit. They have the African mags coming through pretty consistantly.

Some mags do not respond to Cipro. See if you can get some septra ds. Use 1/2 and pill with the Cipro.

I am at work so I cannot do a 100% WC, when I went to bed last night I did a 500mg dose with 100% WC. I will call my brother and pass this message along to him and see if he wouldn't mind doing it for me though.

I contacted LA the first day I got it in to let them know I was fighting an uphill battle and they've already guaranteed it past the 14 day guarantee for me. I will contact them and let them know where I am at today though.
 
Looking back at the pictures from LA DD, his mouth was open more than it should have been. This mag was already sick and probably previously treated with Cipro which could be why he's not responding. You started to drip acclimate on 5/2 at 9:47am. It's only 3 days later and he's already deteriorating? Something is not adding up. I've never had one deteriorate that rapidly. Hey on a last effort to save him. Take a 10cc syringe or turkey baster and blow gently into it's mouth. He will inflate if you do it right. Also, gently blow the slim off him. If you have any other antibiotics, start them immeadtly. He's got two days tops from this point. Turn off all flow, and if his tentacles are moving even a tiny bit, he's still alive and there is still hope. Chances are slim though. Your best bet is to try and inflate him with the syringe or turkey baster. Call LA DD today!!! ASAP...let them know what's going on.

Yeah, don't worry...you'll have a new fresh mag probably this week. They will give you a full credit. If not, I can ship you one. No worries! I have 2-3 coming in tomorrow from a buddy of mine that orders them for me.
 
Thanks Jared. Yeah I have no idea why he went downhill so fast, I did move him more then maybe I should have but other then that...

Usually there is a deflate cycle, since day one of receiving mine it never inflated, I think it was already sick when they sent it to me and the shipping made it 10x worse.

I'll probably have to wait until the end of may to get another mag. I am busy this weekend with mothers day and next weekend I am going backpacking. Thanks for the offer though!

No problem. Make sure you fill that tank to the trim and sterilize with bleach after you're done. Don't count him out just yet until he's completely mush and not responding. No tentacle movement without flow. Otherwise, keep doing WC's and dosing 500mg every evening. You never know, the increased dosage may do it. We'll know in 2 days.

He is gone. You just need to clean up and sterilize the HT. I am sorry. I clean up and run full tank fresh water with bleach for a day then dry everything up. Pump on and everything

How much bleach do you use and I would assume you wash the tank well with water after using the bleach?
 
I just empty everything out, wash them then put them back in the tank same as running in HT but fill the water all they way up to the brim. Add fresh water and added bleach. 1/2 cut pf bleach in 20 gal should do. I run it for a day then empty them again, clean up and pay special attention to the rim because this was not soak in bleach. Dry the whole thing and it should be ready to go for the next time. If you worry you may want to neutralize the bleach with vinegar, but I don't bother because I wash everything well, include disassemble the pump.

Unlucky with that one, it looked a goner from the start but good on you for trying to bring it round. Better luck in the future, i m sure you will get a healthy one soon.
