Newbie here, just ordered the package from Richard!! picking it up on sat. can't wait!! First time doing a reef tank, 90g, my old plant/discus tank. Took it down when I moved to Atlanta, figured I do the salt thing for a change. Any advise, tips, or tricks are appreciated. TBS looks to have a great reputation!! I'll keep you posted with pics as things progress!! Thanks for all the great info here!

good deal, put in an order for 50lbs of lr yesterday...

Got confirmation on the order, but was told it'll be a few days...

May be longer as we are getting the weather you had!

Honestly wasn't too bad for us, mainly drizzle... but from the looks the nasty stuff that went over head drifted down a bit.

Nothing meant toward you Rich, tried local and some others trying to find a way to get some decent rock in by the weekend.
Irritatingly it seems it wasn't meant to be.
If you don't mind, let us know when you get to go back out...from what I found looks like a mess out in that area until next week.

same for us, ordered the package, but have to wait b/c of the weather. Pretty sure this will work out for the best for us though, since next week we'll be in Atlanta area anyway, so picking up the 1st shipment should be easier. Besides with all the wind and bad weather churning up the ocean, the critters have to go hide somewhere. Maybe more hitchhikers for us!

WILL BE A WEEK AT LEAST!

quick update

quick update

Everything went great, no problems at the airport. Got it all unpacked and in the tank. Only mishap so far is a hose that came off my pump, I’d been meaning to stop and get that clamp!! Luckily I caught it pretty quick and the wife didn't see it. Ammonia level has reached only as high as .5, seeing low levels of nitrite and nitrate, so the cycle is in full swing. LR looked good, had a cucumber, some baby crabs, 2 pistol shrimp, and some real small starfish. No bad guys that I’ve seen yet anyway. Looks like the weather is calming down some in Tampa so hopefully for those of you waiting Richard can get out diving. Any suggestions on quieting a noisy Mag 7 pump?

I have a MAG 5 inside my sump and placed it on top of a thick sponge. That and using large, flexible rubber tubing on my return have eliminate almost all vibration. Good luck!

Wind Down!

Wind Down!

Well....

the wind has slowed down, is supposed to be 76 here tomorrow, so I am going to give it a shot in the morning....now if there is any viability, we will be all set!

How're those legs holding up Amy? :-)

"hopefully he's too busy packing all of our orders to answer us. :-) "

I'd guess he's currently diving at this poin.

more to come tomorrow...too tired!

We're holding steady at this point. My legs did get tired though :rolleye1:

So now it's just a matter of getting that last minute stuff done on the tank, like trying to get the SG up to 1.026. Also trying to get the dang salt to disolve.

I still say that the bad weather caused all the little creatures to seek cover, and so we have tons of the most awesomest (yes that's the technical term) hitchhikers coming in our rocks--and the gorrillas swam away from the bad weather.
