My mini maxi (probably about 6 inches) is in an area of rockwork where snails probably fall on it from time to time. This is not the first time I've seen it spit out a shell. Do these guys eat them? Are they able so suck the snail out of the shell like a fat man sucking meat off a buffalo wing?

Hmmm I guess I'm not the only one!

A reefer friend and I saw one of my maxi minis take in, and spit out a nass snail shell. I left it where it was, and it eventually snail walked away....

Granted, I don't know if it survived long term or not, but, it at least didn't get sucked out... Anyone have an idea how to mark a snail ;)

My RBTA stung the heck out of and killed a ~1.5" turbosnail.. didn't eat it though.

As for marking a snail.. Maybe superglue and one of those cocktail drink umbrellas, or a little flag? :) A little plastic sombrero for the mexican turbos maybe?

There may be a market for this LOL. Snail-cessories. Glue-on designer decorations.

They digest it, and vendors keep selling these things like they are reef safe and dont eat other stuff.

Darn those vendors for not telling me my BTAs' would eat all my fish that weren't clowns or the lionfish wasn't poisonous.:spin1:

Come one, it's an anemone and an opportunistic feeder. You have to investigate the habits of all your livestock before buying...

As for my mini's, none has ate much more than mysis and shrimp chunks. I can only imagine if your not feeding an anemone, it will be more likely to eat anything that 'may' fall it's way.
