Do you know the name of this sps by chance? It's b-e-a-utiful!

some sorta encrusting monti... there about a dozen to choose from... take your pic :)

(nodosa, efflorescens)

sorry to hear about the old site, thier loss, none the less wicked tank. I know you won't mind if I pass over with my fragging shears.lol

i went thru the tank late last nite with some bone cutters and tongs... filled up a big plastic chinese-take-out-soup-cup with some clippings.... and just set them out on the back deck overnite. Most people have compost piles for their gardens... i have a CaCO3 pile for my reactor :)

You keep saying that this tank doesn't have what it takes to be a TOTM but I tell ya it is the nicest tank I have seen on RC this month.

I will be really surprised if you don't get the honor one day.

I am actually really surprised that I haven't seen iwan's tank there either.

Surely you are joking.

Very nice. What reactor media are you running?

Don't be alarmed if you see someone walking behind your house on your back deck at night.

Hah... I have a frag tank set up in the garage. In the summer leave the garage door open just enough to get some air exchange. Been wondering when i will come home and fine someone stuck who tried to crawl under the garage door.

no.. actually i am not... in fact, some corals are quite amazing at how long they will live out there exposed to the air and no water except the moisture in their tissue.

c-reactor media=korallith

Kip

What what size media are you using? I know Korallith has fine, medium and large.

BTW just switched from ARM to Korallith. I hope to see my tank look like yours in a few months:D

i think its medium.... havent bought any in a while... i stocked up on it when i first started running a reactor

as far as a tank looking good... wouldnt it be nice if it were something as simple as what media to use.

how about a really ugly picture for the thread... things dont always run so smoothly on Kip'sReef :)

that pic was from fall '03

no bugs anymore... everything new goes thru a strict bathing regimen before going into my system.

How do you do the baths? Do you use just inerceptor or other things for other pests too (such as AEFW)? How do you properly dose interseptor for such a small quantity of water in a dip?

Thanks,
Whiskey

i dont measure it out... but, somewhere around 1/8th of a pill gets crushed and put in about a liter of water that is aerated and temp controlled for about 3hrs.

nudi's and acro-flatties... lugol's bath should manifest a problem that can/will be manual taken care of. A microscope or some other magnifying glass is very useful during this process too.
