Are U gonna used all that live rock? Man, U dont have too.
Thats the beauty of Plenum, U dont have to spend tons of $$ on rocks, plenum takes care of the rest.
As much as possible do not cover much of the sand let it breathe.
Plus Less rock more swimming space for your fish
Create some canyons, atolls, decorate them w/ asortment of frags, a yr. from now that will be stunning....................PEACE

Thanks for the advise, I did a similar thing with the 75 in which I placed some pieces of 4" pvc between the rocks and sand bed. It look good and got lots of flow under there.

Most of the rock will be coming with corals attached :) I hope all looks good after I'm all done.

I still need to clean the sand I got from Whiirly in order to cover the second mesh, and probably be needing some more, I will let you know If I need a bag or two.

The boys are keeping me busy, but I guess its a good thing to let the tank mature a bit.

I keep it simple , think of it as Live Rock, same benefit would do for your tank, just give it time 3 to 6 mo. roughly before becomes fully functional.
Plenum gives you extra benifits, Trace Elements, as aragonite dissolves all of this feeds the corals in our tanks. Why? the bottom which is lacking O2 and the PH drops, erotion starts, not as fast as our Calcium reactors.
Thats why I dont recomend large amount of rock place in the tank if you running a plenum, coz U dont have to do that, in time the plenum becomes effective as the live rock.Aquascaping is a breeze like some of the Japanese tanks U see floating around.:) Pm me if U wanna learn more about plenums.....................PEACE

Nah, I'd have to take my tank apart!

BTW menard not to hijack but I emailed a while back to take you up on your offer to see your tanks. Any time this week? Shoot me an email man if so. joel@ostrows.us

Sorry Ricky...

Happy Reefing
:) all U gotta do is ask. But U never did. Mornings if I'm not tied up w/ the maintenance. I showed my tank w/ the CMAS officers 2yrs ago I believe. Doug, escorted them to my place......................PEACE

:) Thanks. One of these days I will take you up on the offer.

Well, trying to get the 2 sumps plumbed together FAILED miserably! I managed to spill water all over the floor due to a faulty bulkhead in the 75G sump. Needless to say, I'm going to have to plumb the 75G directly to the 200G sump, I don't know how but I will give it a try :)

The problem is that both tanks are across from each other and if I plumb the return from the 75 will be about 3' high preventing me or my family to safely pass through the area. I was thinking on running the PVC down the floor and up to the sump, but I'm not sure if gravity will like it. Any ideas? Sofhocakation (spelling?-Doug)

I run the pvc on the floor and covered with an area rug to prevent any accidents, here is some pics to show what I done.
Oh and its working! :)

After 24hrs of running this way, no effects so far on fish or corals.

Covering that w/ areal rug, still danger waiting to happen.

I would make a RAMP to cover those pipes. or run those pipes under the floor..............................PEACE
