I have seen them do it when I bother them too much while doing a water change, so I am guessing something irritated it -- what I am not sure. When I got home from one the other day it was like that. Took me a while to figure out what was missing in the tank.

No, it was at least half of its current size when I got it. It wasn't expensive, since it was a gift. But, the person who got it for me paid $300 for it.

This is what it looked like when I first put it in my tank. (( this picture it was in my 75, 4 feet long, so it gives you an idea of its size ))
