Justin's Cadlights 39g build thread

Haven't done much with my tank. Corals have been getting good growth though. Should be upgrading within the next month. Bought a 10 eye mummy chalice for $40, steal of the month for me. Enjoy.

good growth? Based on when I saw it, I'd say "great growth" and also "great" color. You are doing something right! Your only future issue will be to many colonies.

If it was $70 I maybe would have gotten it. I got two frags of the sapphire millie, pink prostrata, and sunset for $100 so I thought I did well. Those purple dragon eyes are insane too.. $225 is absurd though.

Well then we shoulda split it and it woulda been 70. Just half the size! hahaha

You going to simi on sat?

I might have been down to do that. I might see Leo this weekend. Would you still be interested? Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to make it to FRAG. Got a big exam coming up this Saturday :/

Justin...looks great. I need to set up my doser!! Grrr. I noticed some good growth ever since I have been hand dosing 2 part. Dosing 25ml 3 times a day. I need to bump it up to 100 ml total a day. Than go from there

Damn you're dosing that much!? I'm only at 24 mil per day 24 times a day.

Dude, Your tank is smaller than my sump.. Thats why 100 mls :lmao: My "recommended" Dose is 1 ml per gallon. My water volume is about 125-130 gallons. My alk is 7.5 (want to raise to 9) calcium is around 330 (want to raise it to mid 400's) magnesium is around 1450.

I told myself I wouldn't upgrade for at least a year but my tank is getting too packed and I need more room. I lasted almost 5 months so yeah, mission failed. Hopefully this tank will last me at least two or three years.. that's what I'm hoping for at least.

Sneak peak at about what's to come:

I moved everything to the new tank already. Thankfully, none of my livestock has died. It's been a success! I was very worried about the move but thankfully, I took all the proper precautions to move it and everything has made it.

Here it is in it's proper location, replacing the old cadlights:

The tank itself is a 36x24x20 Leemar three sided rimless starfire tank. 1.5" square tube stand all the way around, made by my cousin for the price of $40 plus lunch (what a deal!!!). Skimmer is an SWC Mini S Cone, rated for 150 gallon heavy bioload. My tank is roughly 75 gallons with a 50 gallon sump filled up 3/4ths of the way. I will be adding some fish as I'm barley getting any skimmate right now with only five fish inside the tank. Thinking about adding a tang to control some of the algae.

Looks great bro... Now ya just need another light and canopy. I got my doser online now for the past 11 days and wow steady alk and calcium is a good thing...LOL

Thanks. I'm going to rebuild my canopy soon. I don't think I'm going to upgrade my lights but we'll see. Lots of people argue for the rule of thumb of 1 MH per 2 feet but I think 2 will be over kill on a 36" tank. The energy would be out of control as well, especially during the summer when the chiller has to be on.

But yes, dosing is awesome. I noticed a ton of more growth once I got mine stable. Hope your tank is well. I'm going to need new frags from you soon once my tank stabilizes :bounce3:
