Juvi Blueline Angelfish

Still cant get a good pic but my little girl is still doing great and is the king of the refugium. Most of her juvie colors are gone and she has become a lot more bold. She was just about 2" when I got her in july and I would estimate she is pushing 3" or better now. Bummer to hear that some of those fish didnt make it.

Mine won't be. Right now it's so small at about 1-1.5' that i don't know when I'll be able to release it into the d tank, prob have to keep it in a critter cage for quite awhile in there or? It's still black and yellow and yes very scary to make sure it's ok each day. It's tank mates will be a small blue jaw trigger, two black and white clowns , lawn mower blenny, mated file fish pair, marine betta and a juvenile coris wrasse. I may move the clowns as they are hosting a carpet in one corner which makes me nervous , don't want anything to be a potential threat to this angel when it can finally be in this tank. So far it's picking at mysis, cyclops and nori. It's quite active too.

Just thought I'd post my new little one. It snuck out of the box I had it in, but seems to be doing fine and eating with everyone. However the way she got out was through a hole that was pretty small and I don't know it the marks on the side of the fish is normal or from when she escaped. Any thoughts?

My guess would be the marks are from escaping through the hole, especially after seeing the middle of the 2nd picture (where the little one is looking at the hole and she was probably sizing it). I would just keep a close eye for the next couple of days. Very nice looking specimen.

how long for a small BL like that in an aquarium to be in the 3.5-4" area? would 2-3yrs be a decent estimate?

Mine was just a wee bit bigger than that, but still really tiny. I just made sure that it got enough to eat when I fed the rest of the tank.

Daniel, I need to pick your brain and see what you're feeding yours. I just ordered the little one on DD and it arrives on Wednesday...

Glad to see the Regal is still doing good! Hows the Ritteri?

Nick

I fed mine hikari enriched brine, frozen bbs, pe mysis and pe cyclopeeze along with the rest of the fish some mussel and angelfish and butterfly fish frozen food. At first it just went at the hikari and the little brine, I think after it saw the regal digging into the mysis and mussel it eventually started eating that once it's mouth was big enough. It's grown quite a bit to where it looks like a normal juvi fish other than a little premie fish that might not make it. I tried to feed it often for the first couple of weeks when I had time to do four or five feedings a day, but that was only three days out of the week.

My ritteri is looking ok, but recently after I moved my tanks a few feet across the room I've been having some problems with everything. I think it was due to disturbing the sand bed as I had to move everything out of the tank to do so. The past few days its mouth has been gaped open and has since been traveling to the other side of the overflow box. Hopefully it'll pull through ok.

I received a 2.5" one today from the divers den. Still has the yellow stripe. Just found this thread today and was wondering how many of these were still alive and if any of you had any tips since they would be a year old now. Thanks!

I just went back through some of my photos quickly to find a pic of mine.
Here he is on August 14, 2010. I believe I had just gotten him a bit before.
She wasn't quite 2 inches.

Here is a photo of her in July this year. Well over 3 inches.

I'll have to sit down and get an updated photo now as she is pushing 4"

Brad, how is yours doing with corals as it grows? I have for a long time thought these were some of the safer large angels to keep in a reef.

Thanks for the update brad. What do u feed yours? Did u have any trouble with it in the beginning? Mine picked at mysis tonight so I thought that was good.

She doesn't bother the coral at all. I feed my fish a ton and it seems to work. My angels will nip a little at the acro's but nothing bad at all.

She was eating right off the bat. Never had a problem whatsoever. I feed spectrum pellets, spirulina flaked, pe mysis , hikari mysis, emerald entree, marine cuisine. Not all of it everyday, but about 3 cubes a night and the flake and pellets 3-4 times a day.
