Kaserpick 90g SPS Reef

Update:

The tank is doing well. Unfortunately, I did find AEFW's. After much QT time before going into the Neo-Nano, I always thought that I was in the clear. This seems to be my lot in this hobby, but I'm not giving up. I noticed them after they were in the new system, which bums me out a bit. But, I'll be dipping to get rid of them. It'll be a time consuming process, but hopefully, I'll rid them. :)

Other than that, the corals are doing well. They're growing, showing good PE, and the colors are looking better and better despite the bite marks.

Other updates: I switched back to T5's...I just can't get away from them. :p I'll be moving my rockwork around a bit tomorrow to optimize flow and space. I apologize for the lack of pics. I'll see if I can't get some up tomorrow. :)

Looks very promising, Kasey

How do you like the Vertex Zeo reactor?

I think you're definitely going the right way with the 250 MH. I was especially referring to the "dramatic" look that you were going for. I personally love LPS and Zoanthids as well, so when you have areas that are brighter and areas that aren't as bright, you can add them more easily.

Get yourself a yellow coris wrasse to expedite the process.

That is exactly why I have this guy in my tank, Kasey, a good addition for sps reef, particularily ones that are suspect to aefw. I also keep a sixline as you can see in the background. Kasey, you have the right ingredients for a succesful tank, and with your talent, soon to be a phenomenal tank. I really like the layout, and you will soon find endless options in running a cube tank, I will probably upgrade to a 48x48x20 down the road, this would be my dream setup, hopefully next year when I decide to buy...

I always wondered if I added a six line to go with my yellow coris if the six line would pester him to death but I guess your situation answers my question.

Thanks Perry!

I've been wanting to add a Sixline, but a Yellow Coris sounds good as well. Yesterday, I added my Candy Hogfish and Solarensis Fairy; they both seem to be searching constantly for critters to eat. :) Even with those two, I'd still love to add the others. What do you think? I was thinking about adding them on the same day to help prevent fighting.

48x48x20 would be amazing! Before I had this tank built, I was so very close to ordering a custom 4' semi-cube. Unfortunately, I just couldn't see where I'd fit it in such a small apartment. Thanks again for the kind words, Perry. :) Your tank is coloring back up nicely and looking great!

Thank you very much! :D

The Vertex Rx is a VERY nice reactor, especially for the money.

I'm glad to hear that you like the idea for the lighting. I did end up switching to an ATI 6x24w Powermodule, but again, this allows me to have a more dramatic look. It looks great to me, and it saves on the electrical bill, which is always nice. :p

I saw the LED's on the track in the photo. Is that DIY? Scratch that, I saw you said coralvue led or something....I guess LED'S the wave and I'm gonna catch it.

I'm ordering my 168 LED's to convert 2 of my tanks to 100% LED power tomorrow. Nervous about the dough, but it was time to rebulb everything so might as well use that as an excuse. Still not sure how i'm going to justfy $1362 on experimental Light project to the Mrs.

Yeah, they're just cheapo's, but they're nice for evening viewing. I wish they were all blue; I'd run them with the T5's if they were.

Good luck with the LED's; I still can't justify the money to myself. It only costs me $120 to buy new bulbs. My soon to be Mrs. would not be happy either. :p

Update!

I have a Peppermint Hogfish waiting for pick up! :D

+1 Great looking tank I currently have a 75G standard tank and looking forward to purchase of a larger cube style tank Happy Reefing keep us updated

Thanks for the kind words guys! Here's some pics! I'm sorry, but they're just actinics right now. But, it'll give you an idea of where I'm at in terms of progress and how the tank's set up.

Also, they're not photoshop'ed; my sand's blue cause I'm no good with a camera. :p

Nice Kasey:)
I like the open look, do you have plans for something in center of your island? This reminds me of a previous aquascape I had, I used the center for softies and lps, but I bet a bunch of clams down there would look sweet... Your colors are very nice, did you get back to zeovit? Keep the updates coming.... FTS?
Thanks,

Thanks Perry. :)

I'm not sure if I have plans for anything in the center of the island. I'm thinking about the idea of clams, but with the ATI PM so high at this point in time (some of the acros were bleaching), I don't want to keep any Maxima's or Crocea's down there. I have thought about the idea of a Squamosa or a very pretty Fungia.

I'm still not running ZEOvit at the moment. My schedule is up in the air right now; there's a possible re-location in the future, and this keeps me busy with planning. Once things calm down (if they do :p), I'll try going back to ZEOvit.

Updates are very soon to come. Thanks again! :D

Sorry for all the blue; I just can't seem to get my white balance right.

Progress Update:

Well, as I've posted before, I have been battling a problem with AEFW's. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to set up a QT, due to limited funds and time. I have been doing some blasting with the turkey baster as well as adding a few new fish. Here's my fish list:

Mimic Tang
Peppermint Hogfish
Twin Spot Hogfish
Six-line Wrasse
Clown Fairy Wrasse
Mystery Wrasse (I got him from a friend who had him in an overflow for a while. The poor guy's not doing so well, and I'm not sure if he's going to make it.)
2 Purple Firefish
2 Extreme Misbar Clowns

Anyway, I haven't seen anything come off of the corals for a while. My next step is to start basting with a Melafix mix in tank to see if I can get any more worms off of the corals. Honestly, I'm at the point (due to lack of time) that if I can't rid them, then I'll just grow my Monti's, Seria's, Acan Lords, Paly's and Clams. Once the smoke clears after a few months, I'll come back to Acro's. BUT, not until I have a dedicated Quarantine system where they can reside for 4-6 weeks before being introduced...dipping's just not enough.

On the plus side, things are still growing and colors get better and better. My Glowing Fingers Birdnest is finally showing it's bright green fingers! It took me forever to make this thing happy. :p

sik. kinda miss the sand ( i just went with the starboard look on my tank)
makes my corals pop ! but digging the look man!
