Kdoc's 210g Reef Tank

Wow I haven't posted here in ages. How is everyone doing (for those few that watch this thread and are hopefully still subscribed!)

Things are still going pretty well with the tank. I'll give you some bullets of updates:

Start with the bad (keeping in mind this is all within a year or two)
-diamond goby died.
-clown tang died (I think he may have been harassed to death. I thought things were getting better :()
-filefish died, I think it may have starved to death. My majanos were eaten away by him and the day before I was going to give him away, he died.
-my beloved Galaxia died! (Old bulbs and no money for new ones)
-that beatific blue sps colony died! (Bulbs as well I believe)
-huge frogspawn seemed to be dying (bulbs bulbs bulbs Fml!)
-garden eels got sucked up by powerheads.
-green monti caps died

Jeez that was a lot of bad. Ok now for the GOOD

-all remaining fish seem extremely happy and healthy.
-12 year old female clownfish is still trucking along!
-got a new diamond watchman goby (doing well. He is huge, but he and my melanurus wrasse don't seem to like each other)
-tried out aiptasiaX and it DESTROYED my majanos. Man what a difference. My tank looks 10x better.
-my frogspawn is definitely coming back to health. 2 of the 4 baseball sized heads are pretty beat up and I don't think will ever be the same, but the other two are doing great.
-the toadstool on the left is MASSIVE. Younger, but bigger than my first one on the right.
-I took out some rocks COVERED in Kenya trees and it made a big difference with making my tank look tidy and clean.
-New bulbs have been in for months and ever since, everything has looked much better and healthier. I will never again hold off on changing my bulbs.

Here's a photo I took the other day for those that care lol

Talk to me guys!

Awesome tank! How is your clown tang doing with other tangs? I want to get one in a future upgrade :D

The Clown tang unfortunately died. They were not getting along very well at all for a while. But then decided to look good, and then he disappeared. I'm not sure if I mentioned this but I looked in my overflows to see if he was in there and found a tang. To my surprise it wasn't the clown, but a tomini tang I had lost 6-8 months earlier. He is looking extremely great today, and it's one of my most favorite fish. His colors are amazing. I hope to get another clown tang one day but I'm taking it slow with fish. I really need to stock up on some corals.

nice and open, digging those big ol tangs ya got there!!

Yeah, much more open now that I got this huge rocks out of my sand bed. I'm really liking the open look. I'm going to try to keep the sand bed pretty clear and just put corals on my existing rock the way it is. Thanks!

I really like how it's not over done... It's an awesome large tank... Love the fish... Well done...

Thanks Pallobi. I know a lot of people like to cram dozens of little frags everywhere but for some reason I like fewer but larger colonies better. The only thing I really cram is this zoa garden I'm starting lol. I need some crazier zoas!

While I prefer the look of the overflows along the back of the tank, as opposed to in the corners, losing something behind the weirs is always a problem. I used to find all kinds of things on those rare occasions I took the time to look inside them.

I know what you mean lol. Ever since, I check them every now and then.

Go for it!!

Lol yeah. I've officially given up on chromis. They just simply die. No matter what. I'm thinking about taking them all out and replacing them with a nice school of banggais. Maybe I'll just keep them as well. We will see

I just think a nice school of banggais will look sweet. I need to start getting some nice sized sps frags.

looking good man, i fixed fish and snails in overflow problem with ocean state joblot gutter guard. black, good size holes , and very easily installed with zip ties:)

I hear yah. But if I guard it, I'd be worried that the fish would flop out and behind the tank on the ground where I can't reach.

Thanks for the compliment. Any suggestions as to what I should get next (specifically) livestock wise?

Every time I buy a school I end up with only two in six months so becarefull once they pair they tend to shy away from the group also

Interesting you should say that. In the past, my groups of chromis invariably got whittled down to just a single individual. Most recently, however, a group of five has become two - and stably, it seems.

New addition! I got a few sweeeet corals too. I'll take pictures of those tomorrow. But in the meantime... (Let me know if these pics are too small)
