yeah i did but the damsel tore it up... i tried my best to save it but no luck..

Im gonna try the vase trick again, but this time put it side ways so i can toss food in there without it floating to the top.. This guy tears the food up like crazy. He's the first one to grab the food when i put it in the tank so hopefully this will work lol

i was so surprised.. I was waiting on the couch with the string near the tank.. about 5-8 feet away, for about an hr... So I got bored and went on the computer for a bit... I looked over to my left (the side of the tank), and i saw him eating the food.. then i was like, wait a minute.. the food is in the container.. so I at first slowly started to go to the string (Which was being held down) but he must have saw me and started going kind of crazy, swimming real fast trying to get out, and banging against the sides of the container.. So i just quickly ran to the string and let it loose, closing the entrance to the container. I still was afraid he would bust through the entrance door because he was slamming against it... So i ran over to the tank and grab the whole container out lol

oh yeah I also modded my koralias with the maxijet 1600 surflow kit.. I modded 2 of the 4.. but when the 2 powerheads are on it seems like too much flow is being created and the sand stirrs up like crazy... so for now I'm only keeping 1 powerhead on and the 2 returns

Alright well I fixed my powerheads and they're running nice and smoothly now. Also stopped the sand from stirring up... all i did was move both powerheads on tha same side blowing in the same direction. if you have any questions about modding the K4 let me know...

Also hooked up my reef fanatic auto top off and... I LOVE IT! It feels so good not having to lug in buckets of water several times a day... Thing works like a charm, and highly recommended, at only $89.

oh and BTW I do have some cyano algae.. Nothing crazy, I'm probably going to be sucking it all out of the tank or something. Normally when I manually take it out, it tends to stop growing

the auto top off be carful you know how suction cups always let go if they do you will flood glue a magnet to the back and use mags to hold it then you should be safe

yum! That skimmer looks good! Haha. What is it? A euroreef? Or did I just make that up? I think I've heard you mention that, or maybe your mom... She came into the store once and I was helping her.
Definitely wanna get rid of that cyano though. Sucking it up wont solve it.

Yeah The suction cups are actually REALLY strong.. but in any case.. If the suction lets loose, it will just fall in the water and not fill the sump up at all. Thanks for the heads up

Yeah its a Euroreef RS180. I was gonna go with the RS250 but it wouldnt fit underneath my tank. Where do you work and when did you meet my mom lol?

As far as the cyano.. Last time I had a big patch of it in the middle of my tank.. I ended up scooping it out trying as much as possible not to make a mess.. and it wasnt back for months.

I'd rather do that than turn off the lights for a few days like most people do.

Hey guys, Im thinking about changing to MH's.. I just cant resist the shimmer/coloration pop. What do you guys think?

Switching to mh's from your t-5's... So many are happy these days with the t-5's...doing the opposite of what you are thinking. But I also really like the shimmer effect and seeing the light break through the water. Which reflectors were you thinking about and how many watts (250w, I assume?) I have the a 400w lumenbright set-up in my rig..practically like having my own laserbeams...just have to make sure your canopy can give the clearance high enough off the water if you are thinking of going that route (I ended up building a new canopy to accomodate -- turned out awesome with front opening gas shocks instead of the normal piano hinge on the top). But first priority over new lights should be to erradicate the source/cause of the cyano problem. If you just scoop-- it will come back for sure.
