keeping stylopora pink

I bought a frag of a Pink Stylopora, but for some reason i cant get this to get its bright pink color back. All of my other sps are doing fine (acropora, montipora and so on) But the Pink Stylo, jut dont have any color at all. Its a beige color, it does have its polyps out, it has a grown a little bit but no pink color.

I have placed it high in the tank, where it get hits with a lot of light and random flow. It has ben placed there for around 5 month with out any luck.

my parms are:

po4 = 0,02 - 0,03 (hanna 736)
no3 = 2,5
ca = 440
kh = 7-8

I dont measure for it. Usaly i dose some potassium, when i can see my blue acroporas need it.. (their blue color get washed out a bit).. i was under the impresion that potasium were mostly for the blue?

i do dose amino.

Well i did had a similar problem recently, but mine was a pink birdsnest... I bought a potassium test kit ( salifert ) and started dosing K along with zeovit Xtra which is an amino acid. Now the coral is showing some strong pink coloration!

interesting, worth checking out. Is the salifert potassium kit any good? i have only tryed one from KZ, and it was impossible to read proberly.

Salifert is the only one that worked for me.

If its a stylophora...and not birdsnest, it actually needs less light than a typical like birdsnest, or acropora etc..

yeah 100-150 par max...and they do best under T5 or MH...unless you do a diy led array and incorporate 390-430nm leds.

i have a metris led lamp from ghl, that also has these leds in them. I will try and move it to a lower light zone, i just thought it wanted as much light as possible, to keep the pink.

Yup, my electric pink stylo is practically in the sand bed. Bottom 10 inches of my 24" deep tank under 8x54 T-5's.

Mine was faded when high too "¦ its just gotten its deep bright pink colour back in the last month or so at the lower level in the tank.

If all other SPS are healthy like you say "¦ don't start chasing parameters.

Salifert is the only one that worked for me.
